This is highly unusual. You must be running Windows 10?

We see you are not running Windows 10. An abnormal shutdown of Sierra Chart when you click a menu?

Is the problem consistently reproducible?

My VPS server is running windows server 2008. I have no other applications running at same time. I have reproduced the same problem at 8 times when I click menu. Also I have no same problem with other data service like SC FXCM and tdameritrade.

So this is when you click on the main menu of Sierra Chart? What particular menu? For example the Chart menu.

This definitely would not be OEC specific.

We will have to run a review of the code to see what would cause this kind of condition.

in addition, SC seems working fine at start and able to download data. It only crashes when I click menu though.

OK we will check on this, but we have used Sierra Chart on Windows server 2008 with OEC and many services, for the last 7 years and have never seen this problem.

In general we have never heard of a problem like this. So we are suspecting it is system specific.

There are no log files that exist for a problem like this.

If we do not find anything, we recommend reinstalling Windows server 2008 from a completely clean state.

after 2 days testing on my another VPS server with OEC, there is no crashes so far. I guess my problem is machine specific. Thank you very much for the support.

after contact my VPS vendor and recreate windows 2008 server and clean install sierra chart, I continue to have same problem. following is the communication with their tech support:
Dear Song,

This is our first time to know this kind of issue. Sorry that we have little bit knowledge on Sierra chart application.

Please contact back the support if their application requires any specific Windows server 2008 update in order to run? Perhaps .net update or anything?

Another thing is that can it run on a 64 bit OS, Windows server 2008 version 6.0?

One last thing please let them access your VPS in order for them to see the sierra application log instead the coding. That way hopefully they could know and tackle the root cause of the issue.

We look forward to your reply.

Kind regard

OK, we still have to do a code review to see if there is anything we can find which would cause this.

Please allow us another week.

We made a small change that we want to know if it makes a difference.

Install the very latest prerelease on your server using this link:
https://www.sierrachart.com/downloads/SierraChartSetupNoCLRPrerelease.exe

If you still have a problem we will need to connect to your server remotely and observe the problem to see if we get any additional ideas about it.

A problem like this should not have any connection to the data feed.

Based upon the screenshots in post #17, it looks as though that when you click on one of the menus in Sierra Chart you get disconnected from the remote desktop?

If you then connect back and Sierra Chart is still running, then this is some connectivity problem that is completely unrelated to Sierra Chart. And if so, please do not consider this a Sierra Chart issue or raise it as something we need to resolve. We consider this matter closed at this time. You need to look elsewhere for the solution.

And as we said what you are describing, we have never had a report of this and it really does not make much sense. We have used Sierra Chart extensively on servers for 10 years and never encountered anything like this.
