I am a customer with IG and use their web API and it has consistent problems which is probably why they didn't want more clients using the FIX protocol with SC.

As a former programmer on the buy-side for more than 10 years, I find SC's public and painstaking indignation overly critical. It was not unusual for counterparties to parallelize FIX testing with the business discussion, with the understanding that the former became time wasted if the latter fell through. By the late 2000s, most FIX implementations were sufficiently mature that any additional coding needed was minor and par for the course for doing business, even if that business never materialized. SC characterizes IG's engagement to be "unusual in this industry", but it's SC's request for nominal damages that is exceptional.

It is not overly critical. Not at all. We will have absolutely no mercy on these people whatsoever and other experiences as well like this.

This is not the only experience we have had like this, and we are going to give those people maximum hell. Maximum hell. No mercy whatsoever!

This is a good example of stupidity, disorder and incompetence, that you see often in big companies and governments as well. We will call it out and make no apologies and will be open and upfront about it.

And thinking about it some more the IG markets fix API is really substandard and antiquated. Especially their symbology.

As we said this is not the first time this has happened. So being it happened again when we were careful not to make sure it would not, was certainly not a good experience.

And when you read this help topic it provides more insight as to our bad experiences with API components and a lot of wasted time with external service integration:
