interactive brokers data issues

Hello, I'm using IB for data. I'd like to chart the VIX volatility index. I load it from the list of symbols in the chart but it doesn't display after it downloads the data. Also, when I load other symbols, the charts will stop creating new bars after a while and continue making one long bar. I've contacted IB about the problems and they said I'm provisioned to get data to my SierraChart. Do you have any suggestions regarding the two issues? I'm working on version 976. When I use other data from other sources the charts seem to work fine. Thank you Scott |

Please tell us the exact symbol you are using for VIX. The correct symbol can be found in File >> Find Symbol. So be sure to open it using that window. Please update Sierra Chart to the latest version. Select Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> More Interactive Brokers Settings and uncheck Record True Real-Time Data in Intraday Charts . If you still have this problem, "charts will stop creating new bars after a while and continue making one long bar", then we will look at the issue with remote assistance. Just let us know. Hello, Both problems are still persistent. The current version was already loaded and I did select the symbol from the drop down list of avail futures. The InteractiveBrokers symbol I tried to use from the list is VIX-I-CBOE Thank you for continuing to look into this for me. Scott |

well because the software was already updated to the latest version during the occurence and you have no answers on how to fix it.

would you like an image of the chart when the market is open so you can see the long bar? If i delete/download data it updates and spaces the bars out again. The last chart i have before market close is of a refreshed chart. here's the log. I can load VIX through IB's platform but not SierraChart. Maybe something is wrong with the drop down selection box in the available symbols? Does something need to be corrected between SierraChart and IB? Here's the message IB gave me regarding the issue. If you have no issues loading real time data for VIX Futures directly in TWS this confirms your Account has all the required permissions. In most cases customers using an API Program and unable to load data but have no issues in TWS are due to incorrect configurations directly in the third party vendor software. Commonly it is because the symbol is not enter correct or the parameters are not correct and the customer would need to contact there third party vendor directly for assistance. We have considered this. The only reasonable possibility is that maybe they need the currency specified or possibly the symbol has to be specified in the LocalSymbol member of the Contract structure. We are now specifying the index symbol in the LocalSymbol member. Please update to the latest version Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Prerelease. However, in either of these cases, the error message you are getting still does not make sense based upon some improper symbol specification. Thanks....i'm trying to get IB to work on the first issue. As far as the second issue, it looks like the tick chart isn't counting all of the ticks. I can delete/download data and it'll chart right but doesn't in real time. Here are some charts that aren't working right. Sorry, I guess I didn't explain myself well. The images show long bars for the live data because the charts aren't counting all the ticks right. The shorter bars before the end were made after I did a delete/refresh data. For some reason, it seems like all the ticks aren't counted on a live chart.
