Subject: Incorrect Unrealized P/L During Live Trading (Teton Order Routing) Hello Sierra Chart Support, I would like to report an issue that I have been troubleshooting. Below is the sequence of events exactly as they occurred. 1. Initial Observation While trading live through Teton Order Routing to my IronBeam account, I noticed that the unrealized P/L displayed in Sierra Chart was incorrect. Although my trades were moving in my favor, Sierra Chart showed that I was losing money while the positions were still open. 2. Second Observation Shortly afterward, I noticed that the prices displayed on my Sierra Chart no longer matched the actual market prices. To verify this, I compared Sierra Chart with my TradingView chart displaying the same market. At one point, TradingView showed a bullish candle while Sierra Chart showed a bearish candle for the same time period. Because of this, I suspected that Replay Mode might somehow still be affecting the chart. I am not saying Replay Mode caused the problem; this was simply the reason I began investigating it. 3. Troubleshooting Performed • Verified Replay Mode was completely disabled. • Created a new Chartbook to determine whether the original Chartbook had become corrupted. The new Chartbook resolved the incorrect chart pricing. The chart now displays the correct market prices. However, the unrealized P/L problem remained. 4. Verification of the P/L Issue To verify the issue, I placed approximately five to six live trades through Sierra Chart using Teton Order Routing to my IronBeam account. For every trade: • The market moved in my favor. • Sierra Chart displayed an incorrect unrealized P/L, often indicating that I was losing money. • While the trade was still open, I compared the unrealized P/L shown in Sierra Chart with my IronBeam trading platform. • The unrealized P/L displayed in Sierra Chart did not match what I observed in my broker's platform. • As soon as I closed the trade, Sierra Chart immediately recalculated the trade and displayed the correct realized profit/loss. This same behavior occurred on every test trade. 5. Final Troubleshooting Step I then reinstalled Sierra Chart. After reinstalling: • The chart pricing issue remained resolved. • The unrealized P/L issue still persists. Today I reproduced the problem again. Once again, the unrealized P/L displayed by Sierra Chart was incorrect while the trade was open. I verified the position against my IronBeam platform during the live trade, and the unrealized P/L shown in Sierra Chart did not match what I observed there. As soon as I closed the position, Sierra Chart immediately corrected itself and displayed the proper realized profit/loss. I also contacted IronBeam Support regarding this issue. After discussing the behavior and verifying that my orders are being routed through Teton Order Routing, they recommended that I contact Sierra Chart for further investigation. Could you please advise what logs, settings, or diagnostic information you would like me to provide? I would be happy to perform additional testing if it will help identify the cause. Thank you for your assistance. |

It sounds like a chart is set to load order fills such that it is between order fills for a traade and therefore the fills are not lining up. Please go through the items at the following link. These steps will apply to the Net P/L as well as the Daily P/L: Help With Daily Profit/Loss Value: Simplified Steps to Solve Incorrect Daily Profit/Loss We are curious, where are you seeing the Daily P/L showing properly? Is that in the Trade Window, or on the Trade Activity Log or somewhere else? We need to understand where you are seeing the correct Daily P/L. Is that in the Trade Window or elsewhere? When you are flat in the Market at some point today, then please tell us if your Net P/L is showing a value other than 0.00. Please tell us where you are viewing the Net P/L as well. We have been assuming that it is in the Trade Window, but we realize you may be looking at the Trade Activity Log. Please get us an image of what you are seeing. Thank you, now we understand what you are seeing. Although the solution would be what we linked you to previously, as the problem is that your Daily P/L is not correct. Note that you have your system setup to show the Net P/L included in the Daily P/L. But from the image you are showing, you are currently flat in the market (as your P/L is showing as 0.00). Therefore, the line that states "NPL" is the current Daily P/L since you have no open orders. Anyway, the solution is at the following link. I requested remote assistance because it was obvious from the beginning that this was a technical issue within Sierra Chart. Instead of providing technical support, I have spent the last two days being directed through pages of documentation that require knowledge of Sierra Chart's internal order fill processing and trade statistics. That is not the service I purchased. I purchased Sierra Chart to trade, not to become an expert in debugging its internal calculations. I have invested hours trying to resolve what should be a straightforward issue: displaying an accurate Daily Profit/Loss. At this point, I am making a simple request. If Sierra Chart is unwilling to provide remote assistance to diagnose and resolve this issue, then I am requesting a refund. I do not believe it is reasonable to expect customers to spend days troubleshooting the internal operation of your software instead of receiving technical support from the people who built it. Please let me know whether you are willing to provide remote assistance. If not, I would like to discuss a refund of my Sierra Chart service. |

Regarding this: • Sierra Chart displayed an incorrect unrealized P/L, often indicating that I was losing money.
• While the trade was still open, I compared the unrealized P/L shown in Sierra Chart with my IronBeam trading platform. • The unrealized P/L displayed in Sierra Chart did not match what I observed in my broker's platform. We need to know specifically the name of the field in Sierra Chart you are referring to and where it is located. There is no field named "unrealized profit/loss" in Sierra Chart. Are you referring to the Open Profit/Loss (P/L) field on the trade window? There are three potential reasons why this could be wrong or seemingly wrong. The Currency Value per Tick setting in the chart could be wrong. Or you are misinterpreting what is being displayed since there are different display formats. The other potential problem is the position average price is wrong and that could be wrong because you are using a particular setting in the chart to calculate that on the client side: Open Position Average Price: {"Use Last In First Out Fill Matching for Open Position Average Price", "Use First In First Out Fill Matching for Open Position Average Price", "Use Flat to Flat Open Position Average Price", "Use External Service Open Position Average Price", "Use Theoretical Position Average Price"} Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
