Rithmic problem with Natural Gas NGN5.NYMEX

Hello, I have SierraChart connected to Topstep through Rithmic. Everything was working fine until Natural Gas rolled over from June to July. Once July became the front month, I was no longer able to place trades on Natural Gas using the symbol NGN5.NYMEX. The error message I get in the trade service log says: 2025-05-30 10:52:36.140 | Rithmic Direct - DTC (Order reject). Info: The risk management system rejected request. Internal Order ID: 1318. Service Order ID: 309061814. Symbol: NGN5.NYMEX. Account: XXXX (I have censored the account number). I am able to trade other contracts without any problem at all. Including other NYMEX contracts, CL for example. I have contacted Topstep as well as Rithmic directly about this and they both keep saying the same thing -- that the symbol is WRONG and it needs to be NGN25.NYMEX. (25 for the year instead of just a 5). I think this makes no sense because none of the contracts on any of the exchanges via this Rithmic connection use 25 for the year, they just use 5 for the year. Do you have any ideas? |

It is definitely NOT an issue with the symbol. But the issue is definitely with Rithmic, as they are rejecting the order. There is nothing we can do to help with the Rithmic rejection, that is something you need to work out with them. But, if they continue to insist that the issue is with the symbol, then enter a "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" for the NGN5.NYMEX chart and set it as "NGN25.NYMEX" (no quotes) and be sure to set the option for "Use as Trade Only Symbol" to "Yes". This will then send the order with a symbol of "NGN25.NYMEX". You will then get a rejection due to the symbol and you can take that back to Rithmic and let them know. If it does happen to work, please let us know. This would be the first time that this has occurred and implies a change to how Rithmic is functioning. I did as you suggested changed the trade symbol to NGN25.NYMEX and that DID WORK. Rithmic has stated that this change is only for Natural Gas and I should check out the CME website where they get their information. Interestingly, when I look at the info page for Natural Gas on the CME website it says Globex Code: NGN25. When I look at the info page for Crude Oil it says Globex Code: CLN5. I am not sure why this is different, if it Natural Gas was some how changed in July. |
