In the latest prerelease, 2378, go to Global Settings >> General Settings >> Settings Windows. There are various options to enable single click options for different types of items in the new Settings Windows when the line is not selected. This allows for behavior identical to the previous dialogs. This is all very customizable. Additionally, Settings Windows buttons now have a gray background and black text by default.
