If you are noticing performance issues in Sierra Chart more recently, then this is likely due to wider price ranges and increased trading activity. To solve this problem refer to: High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.48 - Basic Steps to Resolve Performance Issue in Sierra Chart It says: When the markets are more volatile, and there is a wider price range in a day, some studies can have longer calculation and drawing times. Although this depends upon the Input settings of the study. Studies that use the Volume at Price data will take longer to calculate and draw. This is one reason why you can notice a performance issue with increased market activity.
You should increase the Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings>> Intraday Data Storage Time Unit to 1 Second. Or go to 5 Seconds. Do not care about the inaccuracy. If you have a problem you have no choice but to go to a higher storage unit. For example with crypto currency data on our servers we use 1 Second. Not 1 Tick because it is unmanageable. Sometimes, accuracy has to be reduced. Otherwise, it becomes an unmanageable case with handling 1 Tick Data. ---- Sometimes performance issues could be related to an excessive amount of Trade Activity Log data. In this case, refer to: Trade Activity Log: Trade Activity Not Displaying or Clearing (Improving Trade Activity Query Performance) Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Somewhat related to this, we are aware, that some of our systems, are under strain, due to all of the market activity, and there have been issues related to this, possibly data feed interruptions, and temporary missing historical data. Problems have been identified primarily Storage I/O limitations, and we are getting the necessary new hardware to resolve. Just in the last two weeks we have made a very large expenditure in new equipment and hardware upgrades. All of this work is going to be done throughout the rest of April and May. We are going to work quickly to get everything done. All of our server network adapters are going to be upgraded to Nvidia 25 Gb adapters. We are getting the very best Nvidia PCI 4 adapters. We have a new server, arriving next week that will be installed into the CME Aurora data center. Very powerful server. A Dell R650. With a new 10 Gb Internet connection we are getting from Zayo. This is equipped with, two dual port, Nvidia 25 Gb network adapters. 2 ports to the CME, and one port for the Internet. There was also another thread, that we described our new 10 Gb NY4 connection for US equities data. We have that now. That has been a major relief for us knowing that we have full redundancy. We also have a new 100 Gb connection over to Chicago coming in June. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. We just want to explain the frustration we are going through to simply get our own 10 Gb Zayo Internet connection in the Aurora data center. It would have been done by now. But it is not due to all kinds of bureaucratic nonsense. We require a crossconnect, between Zayo and the cabinet where our servers are located. We arranged with Zayo to provide this crossconnect. Agreement provided and signed. No problem so far. We even checked with our service provider, to make sure this was okay ahead of time. Subsequent to this our service provider in the Aurora DC comes back to us and tells us that they must provide the crossconnect and not Zayo. Why? So we told them to order the crossconnect. And we gave them the letter of authorization from Zayo. They then come back and say that the letter of authorization must contain this language: "Customer, agrees that (a) its sole recourse for any claims arising out of this request (“Request”) or the cross connects related to this Request, will be to CME, and Customer covenants not to sue CyrusOne LLC or any of its affiliates (collectively (“CyrusOne”)) for any such claim and; (b) CyrusOne is an intended third-party beneficiary of limitation on claims and recourse set forth in the Request, as applicable". Thank you, So Zayo that has to send this to their legal department and that is where it is right now. We could have this done and over with 10-14 days ago if not for all of this complete nonsense. We promise not to sue anyone, related to any kind of problems for a strand of fiber, going through some overhead channels, in the data center. This is really getting silly. ---- We can go on and on with all kinds of stories due to frustrations related to IT infrastructure. Of course the worst offender is Microsoft. Regarding post #3, we do finally have the letter of authorization and the crossconnect is coming from the CME soon. Should be a few more days.

This ended up not being true!: Regarding post #3, we do finally have the letter of authorization and the crossconnect is coming from the CME soon. Should be a few more days.
Truly unbelievable we are still going back and forth, like for the fifth time regarding this. Something is always not right with the letter of authorization. First Zayo, specified a port that was already in use. The CME rejected it. And we have gone through 3 additional rejections, due to language in the letter of authorization. Unbelievable!
