2093+ is causing chart studies to be changed when re-opening

Running 2096 and opening chartbook after saving it and restarting sierra is causing chart studies to be altered magically including settings within studies being changed, like regions and scale and display settings. Looks good now. Only issue is when dragging the chart left to right the chart sometimes gets stuck then either i have to restart sierra or it crashes

That does not make sense to us. No one has reported this and we would not know the cause of it. Might be due to OpenGL or perhaps custom study.

Strange issue is back. I closed sierra yesterday and opened it again today. Charts appeared to be okay. I did some work on the studies in the chart and applied them and various studies on the chart got corrupted. I tried loading old study collections and I still saw the same corruption (e.g. colour bar studies showing at locations where they should not be showing and general strange behaviour)

I tried 2100 with optional components as per the post on the forum and now I can't open my chartbook at all. It opens but then hangs after a few seconds. I tried rolling back to 2098 which was more stable but that's not working either. Just found a way to get it working again. Opened sierra in safe mode, created a new chartbook and duplicated the charts from the 'bad' chartbook to the new one and restarted sierra without safe mode. Tried updating to 2099 as i understand there are some pull stack fixes in there, but broke the chartbook again. I tried to fix it using the method described in my last post but that's not working. Tried 2098 again and that too has issues. What seems to trigger the crash is when I zoom or move the chart around. So running on 2098 just about. It's still chart is still hanging on occasion. If I don't close sierra manually when the charts stop responding and hang then the graphics driver dies on me and resets. I need to then reboot the system. Makes the system unstable too unstable. I've tried rolling back to MS official NVIDIA driver and doing a full driver clean using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) but the driver doesn't appear to be the issue

Okay, I would accept that but if I remove all custom studies from my chartbook then sierra and my system are totally stable. I'll see if I can isolate which study could be causing this and see if it's opengl related

You have already told us OpenGL is not resolving the problem. Did you misrepresent that to us? A custom study cannot cause system instability. That is a definitive system-level problem. I took the time to do a full Memtest x86 this weekend on my system. It rans for at least 6-8 hours straight without any issues. Also did a burn in test on my cpu for 3hrs without any errors (when I'm trading sierra and windows barely use 10% of the CPU). I then reinstalled windows and things seemed a little more stable but I was still seeing same issue of crashing. I installed Linux again but am having the same issue with SC crashing there with wine 5.8 and 5.9 (See this post Linux | Post: 221108) When I got the error this morning I decided to try to update to SC 2115. Now when I start sierra on one of my instances, I get a Windows Error Dialogue box open up saying: ###################################################################### "Initialization error: Error Initializing Main window objects c_MainMDIWindow::Initialized: Exception occurred. If you need more help, contact Sierra Chart Support or assistance" ###################################################################### If I enable safe mode and also do not open files on startup then I still get the error above. I've also copied a working instance, renamed it to the broken instance and copied these config files over from the broken instance to see if I could find where the problem was: Accounts.config DataFilesFolder.txt KeyboardShortcuts.config Sierra3.cfg Username.txt VersionNumber.txt MenuCustomizations.xml AccountBalance.data lnternal0rderlD2.data TradeOrdersList.data TradePositions.data This was still causing the windows dialogue error when starting in safe mode. So I copied back the working Sierra3.cfg file from the original working Instance and it's now working again. So looks like the Sierra3.cfg file is causing the issue. So now I reinstated the broken Instance using a backup of the Sierra3.cfg and am back on 2109 Date Time Of Last Edit: 2020-06-01 09:44:17

What we said to the user is absolutely true based upon the information given. What we resolved is not going to cause system instability. If they had system instability, that is an issue with their system. We are reaffirming what we said a thousand percent. It is all true. You are not convincing us of anything. And we have overwhelming experience with what we say. The problem was simply related to the control bar with an out of bounds access on a vector. This does not cause system instability to the point of requiring a restart. If they had system instability, then there is something definitely wrong with their system which of course can include third-party drivers. That is 110% accurate. And we are used to users misrepresenting things to us, whether knowingly or unknowingly. And we make no apologies with what we said. And you are welcome to repost this, and make what you want out of everything we say. We want you to do that. Do you realize how many things get blamed on Sierra Chart in particular from certain users, not naming users, that are just not with Sierra Chart at all. And if it was communicated, that a new installation had no issue but when they used a particular configuration file that Sierra Chart ran into exceptions then we would have realized that we needed to test that file which we eventually came to realize based upon the communicated information. The one known case of the out of bounds array error has been resolved in version 2115. If you are still having a problem we need to get the chart that is causing that. Instructions: Support Board Posting Information: Providing Chartbook with Only a Single Chart Also we looked further into the configuration file issue, and the circumstance that led to it is something that should not happen and really is an indication of a memory corruption. So we do not think this was the core issue but something secondary. It also does not make sense that a simple configuration file issue is going to degenerate into a stability problem on a system. That is just not going to happen. We will have a new release out in about a day but we are not certain that this is really resolving the core issue you are having. The cause of that is still unknown.
