Sierra Chart hung for ~4 minutes today and I had to kill it. It hung inside an ACSIL sc.SellEntry() call as per Claude. I run about 11 different chartbooks andeach one has autotrader study inside it. On this particular chartbook, this is the second time that I am having the same issue where the signal fired and then Sierra froze and I had to restart it. Can you please look into it and let me know if there is anything wrong on my side? 2026-10-07, chart GCZ6.COMEX/MGCZ6.COMEX [C][M] Renko 16t #3, account 71516394, Rithmic Direct - DTC. At 12:21:08 UTC my study called sc.SellEntry() to submit a 2-lot market order on MGCZ6.COMEX with an attached bracket. The call never returned. Message Log - last line written by any chart or study: 2026-10-07 08:21:08.956 | Chart: GCZ6.COMEX/MGCZ6.COMEX [C][M] Renko 16t #3 | Study: AutoTraderLegs | bar=869 eval=868 | shortSig=868(fresh 1) | pos=0 (chart time is UTC-4). Nothing from any chart after that. Meanwhile Denali, SC Data with Depth and Rithmic Direct - DTC kept heartbeating normally until 08:25:04, when I restarted. Largest gap anywhere in the message log is 17.0s, so there was no data stall - only the chart/UI thread stopped. TradeActivityLog_2026-10-07_UTC.71516394.data has no record at all at 12:21:08 UTC. Every other entry in that file, successful or rejected, first writes three "Auto-trade: ... | SellEntry | ..." records before anything goes to the trade service. None were written here, and the next InternalOrderID (277911) was never issued. So it blocked before the order was even created. The connection was fine - an NQ order filled on the same connection at 09:57:26 UTC and its stop filled at 10:42:50 UTC. What can make InternalSellEntry block indefinitely before it writes those records? Is there an internal lock around order submission that a study call can wait on? Three chartbooks place orders on this same account and symbol. I have attached the Message Log as well as Trade Activity Log for reference. Thank you so much Muhammad |

It is very unusual for Sierra Chart to just lock up. You have a lot of custom studies that you could potentially be using. And from what you state about the fact that your study never returns, the most likely, the issue you are referring to is a custom study issue. Our recommendation would be to run Sierra Chart in "Safe Mode" for a couple of days and see if you have the same issue. If you do not, then the issue is related to a custom study somewhere. We do not have any way to know what study would be causing the issue. This is something you would need to troubleshoot yourself. Thank you for your reply John. I do have custom studies but this particular chartbook created the issue second time. Although the last time I faced this issue was about 7-8 days back and then the autottader kept taking entries and everything was fine. Today I faced it again. You still think that there is an issue with my study somewhere? Thank you |

As we stated, it is unusual for Sierra Chart to just lock up. Given the number of custom studies you have, this is our first, and best, guess as to what occurred. We really can not say for sure, but the only way to determine would be to remove the custom studies (which you can do by running in Safe Mode) and run with that for awhile. Or, another option, would be to install a second Sierra Chart, and copy everything over. Then run that installation without the custom studies. If you lock up on the one installation with the custom studies and not the other, then this would give you the proof you need. Refer to one of the following for how to install another Sierra Chart: Transferring Sierra Chart Settings and Data From Existing Installation to New Installation And refer to the following regarding Safe Mode: Sierra Chart - Software Login Instructions: Using Safe Mode For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
