SC: I have the crosshair all set on a chart, if I press ALT 7 the price retracement tool will be active at the cursor. Then, I can set the levels as I need. My question is how can I toggle the price retracement tool so that the crosshair will be displayed again without having to right click on the chart and select crosshair again? I tried pressing ALT 7 again but that just tries to create another price retracement. Sierra Charts are the best, in my opinion. |

Set the following setting to "Always On When Using Other Tools": Chart Drawing Tools: Action When Other Tools Selected (Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> Chart Values >> Chart Values) Note that this will apply to ALL tools. There is not an option to only have the crosshairs show when using a specific tool. John - SC Support: Is there a way to ask Sierra Charts to keep the crosshair and not switch to a pointer when hitting ALT 7? The way you described it in the above post works if I select "Always on When Using Other Tools". However to get rid of the pointer and just keep the crosshair, I still have to right click on a chart and then select Chart Values/Crosshair. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-06-17 22:57:42

We do not understand what you are asking in terms of "to get rid of the pointer and just keep the crosshair, I still have to right click on a chart and then select Chart Values/Crosshair." What do you mean by get rid of the pointer? For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

When I select ALT 7, the little crosshair turns into a pointer, an arrow, if you will. Then to get rid of the pointer that shows where my cursor is, I have to right click on the chart and select chart/values/crosshair.

We tell the operating system we want a specific pointer type, but what is defined for that pointer type is defined by the Operating System. For example, when using a drawing tool we specify that we want to use the "Normal Select" pointer, which is set to an arrow by default in Windows. Whereas with the Crosshairs, we specify we want the "Precision Select" pointer, which is the plus (+) by default in Windows. If you want to change these, then you need to do so at the Operating System level. For Windows 11, this is in "Settings >> Accessibility >> Mouse Pointer and Touch >> Customize Pointer Image. Keep in mind changing these at the OS level will affect ALL the pointers in all programs throughout your system.
