Notes and Futures Symbol Format

• If a symbol is listed on an exchange where it is identified as [EOD only], according to this table, then real-time and intraday data is not available for that symbol.
• Futures Symbol Format For Real-Time Contracts: Base Symbol + Month Code + 1 year. Example: GCG0. For symbols that you want real-time data for, you must use a 1 digit year only. Otherwise, you will not receive real-time data.
• Futures Symbol Format For Expired Contracts: Base Symbol + Month Code + 2 digit year. Example: ESZ09. For expired contracts you must use a 2 digit year to ensure that you get data. A single digit year may work, but not necessarily. This is dependent upon what our data provider requires.
• Futures Continuation Charts: The format for continuous daily and intraday (requires version 617 or higher) futures contracts is: futures root symbol + #.
• Futures Spot Price: To get the cash/spot market for a particular futures market add Y0 (The 0 is Zero) to the end of the underlying symbol. See Examples. Not all Futures contracts will support using Y0.
• The historical daily data included with this service covers the full 24 hours of trading for a symbol. This means each daily bar in a historical chart will cover the full 24 hour trading session.
• Volume and Open Interest for Historical Charts (Not Intraday): For futures contracts, the Volume and Open Interest reported for a specific futures symbol, are for that specific futures symbol when using the Barchart.com Real-Time and Historical Data Service and the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service. This applies to Historical charts. For Intraday charts, the volume is also for the specific contract. To get total Volume and Open Interest for all the contracts for the underlying futures contract, append -T to the end of the Historical chart symbol. If you append -T to the end of the symbol, you may not get volume data for the current day. This suffix only works with Historical charts.

The following table lists the amount of available historical data. If you do not get all available historical data, then please see help topic number 42. Please keep in mind that downloading historical Tick data for a long time period could be slow.
