Using Sierra Chart with Ninja Trader Brokerage
Often we are asked by Ninja Trader brokerage customers about using Sierra Chart, or in addition to using Sierra Chart, using one of the Real-Time Exchange Data Feeds Available from Sierra Chart.
Ninja Trader on the backend, uses CQG and Rithmic. Sierra Chart does not have good connectivity to Rithmic and we disfavor CQG for various reasons, and have developed an alternative and that is the Sierra Chart Order Routing Service with Data.
If you want to trade your Ninja Trader account, this is going to require an additional paid entitlement on your CQG account and you could not use Ninja Trader at the same time. If you want to use Sierra Chart just for trading and not Ninja Trader, then this also requires an additional paid entitlement on your CQG account. If you want to you Sierra Chart just for charting, then this also requires an additional paid entitlement on CQG account. This additional entitlement can be up to 20 USD per month.
If you just want to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed, then you have to connect Sierra Chart once a month your CQG account to authorize CME data and you also need to have this additional paid entitlement on your CQG account.
You should question why you would want to stay with Ninja Trader and use CQG when you will have much better connectivity and simplified access to market data with the Sierra Chart Order Routing Service with Data and perhaps also obtain lower commission rates.
Also, CQG has significant limitations regarding market data and we have also seen connectivity issues and also Trade Position reporting issues (although rare).
We want to provide our customers high quality and easy to use services which do not frustrate our users and we do not want to have an unnecessary support burden upon us especially relating to authorizing CME data at the lower cost nonprofessional fees and getting connected to CQG.
Therefore, we highly recommend using the Sierra Chart Order Routing Service with Data and use a different brokerage or just have an account directly with the clearing firm. This service is based on Trading Technologies and has support for a large array of clearing firms around the world.
If you decide to use CQG or Rithmic you are not going to receive any support from us in this regard. You can use them, but we will not provide you technical help in particular related to connectivity problems.
Effective July 1, we now have the new cost competitive Denali Exchange Data Feed which provides CME data. With a funded trading account you are eligible for the nonprofessional CME exchange fees as well.
We want to provide our users top quality reliable solutions that are seamless and trouble-free. It is the policies of CQG and also the CME, which are the basis of our recommendation on this page.
