Dear Support, I see in the new 2754 Change Log: For custom Calculated Symbols there is the ability now to specify the formula within the symbol Settings rather than within the Symbol itself. The new Symbol Setting is Formula Symbol.
Could you please provide more information about this? So far, I’ve been manually creating Custom Symbols following the instructions in the documentation below—either by defining a new symbol or duplicating and adjusting an existing one (for simple rolls): Custom Calculated Symbols How does this new feature relate to or change that process? Thank you. |

This change allows flexibility for how the symbol name is entered. You can continue to use the Custom Calculated Symbols in the way specified in the documentation. In this case, the "Formula Symbol" setting will be blank and the entered symbol will be used for the formula. If you enter a formula in the "Formula Symbol" setting, then this formula will be used rather than the symbol itself. This allows you to enter a symbol such as "Apple + Microsoft" and enter a "Formula Symbol" of "{AAPL} + {MSFT}". Thank you, John—this sounds great, as it will allow us to use more descriptive names instead of the long custom symbols.
