This change allows flexibility for how the symbol name is entered. You can continue to use the Custom Calculated Symbols in the way specified in the documentation. In this case, the "Formula Symbol" setting will be blank and the entered symbol will be used for the formula. If you enter a formula in the "Formula Symbol" setting, then this formula will be used rather than the symbol itself. This allows you to enter a symbol such as "Apple + Microsoft" and enter a "Formula Symbol" of "{AAPL} + {MSFT}".
