In using Spreadsheet Study, I have in cell m3="Bearish". So I am tryingto have m3 cell text on my chart. I am trying to use Text Dipsplay
For Study but it just returns 0.00 instead of "Bearish". Is there a way I can return text data rather than numeric, for i know numeric works just fine?

Hi SC,

Thanks for adding this study.

I tried it but cant get it to work and the documentation is not up yet.

Questions:
1. Input SpreadsheetName - must this include the extension scss? Is this case sensitive?
2. Input Sheet Name - I am assuming I have to enter 'Sheet1' and not just '1'?

1. The spreadsheet name can either include or not include the extension of .scss. If you do include it, it is case sensitive, so you need to add it as '.scss'.

2. Yes, you need to enter the actual sheet name as it shows in the study, such as 'Sheet1'.

Hi John,

Thank you for your reply.
I followed your instructions but I couldnt get things to work.
I am running v2761 and please see my attached screenshots.

As you can see, I dont see the value 100 of cell A1 displayed in my chart.

What could be wrong?

One of the issues is that you will not get a value of 100 to display using the "Text Display from Spreadsheet". The item to be displayed needs to be text. So if you really want to show a value of "100" (no quotes), you would need to use the TEXT() function within the spreadsheet. Refer to the following:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SpreadsheetFunctions.html#TEXT_Function

Another item that you need to be aware of is that the spreadsheet needs to exist on the drive. For a Spreadsheet Study this occurs automatically, but for a standard Sierra Chart spreadsheet, you would need to save it one time before you will be able to get the text to show up.

If I have a date in a cell inside spreadsheet, is there a way to have it display on chart?

Is this in a Spreadsheet Study or in a regular Sierra Chart Spreadsheet?

What cell contains the date you want to display?

How are you wanting to display it?

yes, right now i am using cell m3, wanting to just display as date on chart, ex. 11-21-2025 or 11-21-2025.

How you access this depends on whether this is in a standard spreadsheet (started by selecting "File >> New Spreadsheet") or if this is one of the Spreadsheet Studies. Once you let us know then we can tell you how to display it as you want.

In this case, you can access the subgraph directly from the Spreadsheet Study and set the "Value Format" in the study you are using to reference it as "Date".

Specifically, for the "Text Display for Study" set the "Study and Subgraph to Display" to be the Spreadsheet Study and the M column subgraph. Then set the "Value Format" to "Date".

That is all you need to do.
