We intend to have both available, so there is nothing to worry about in terms of "future proofing". There should not be any statements in our documentation about one replacing the other. There may have been old posts that stated something along these lines, but that would have been old information.

As to which one you use, it depends on what you want/need.

The "U.S. Equities Consolidated Tape" has the price and volume data for 14 exchanges. This is the typical price and volume that you see reported. There is no market depth data available with this exchange option.

The "NASDAQ TotalView" has the price and volume data for just the trading done on the NASDAQ exchange. There is also Market Depth data available for this exchange.

There is also a third option, which is to activate both exchanges and then enter the ticker with an _MBO suffix (such as TSLA_MBO), where you will then get the price and volume data from the "U.S. Equities Consolidated Tape" along with the Market Depth data from the "NASDAQ TotalView".

The information for each exchange are at the following links:

"The "NASDAQ TotalView" has the price and volume data for just the trading done on the NASDAQ exchange" - but i see data for stocks traded on NYSE as part of this feed - is it strictly Nasdq only or some sort of Nasdaq flavor pf consolidated USA stock tape?

All US equities including NYSE listed symbols, do trade on NASDAQ as well. NASDAQ TotalView will cover all US equities.

if it helps, I prefer the NQTV feed because with the Consol. tape some of the pre-market moves seem very erratic.

The NQTV feed seems to have 'cleaner' pre-market data, ie no crazy spikes (both ways) in the price action.

@SC ok so IF as u stated above: "NASDAQ TotalView will cover all US equities." - then back to my original question - whats the differnce between SC Denali NQTV and SC Denali Consolidated UAS Stocks Tape ? (let forget about market depth data here)

and just a remineder - the link i posted earlier https://www.nasdaq.com/docs/2022/10/11/NDL_TotalView-Factsheet.pdf clearly states NQTV consolidates stocks data from ALL USA exchanges not just from NQ

The Fact Sheet does not state anything about consolidated information. It states that they have Market Depth for securities listed on other exchanges.

Which is the point being made above. Even though the security may be listed on a different exchange, there is still trading for it being done on the NASDAQ, and that is what you are seeing with this data.
