We intend to have both available, so there is nothing to worry about in terms of "future proofing". There should not be any statements in our documentation about one replacing the other. There may have been old posts that stated something along these lines, but that would have been old information.

As to which one you use, it depends on what you want/need.

The "U.S. Equities Consolidated Tape" has the price and volume data for 14 exchanges. This is the typical price and volume that you see reported. There is no market depth data available with this exchange option.

The "NASDAQ TotalView" has the price and volume data for just the trading done on the NASDAQ exchange. There is also Market Depth data available for this exchange.

There is also a third option, which is to activate both exchanges and then enter the ticker with an _MBO suffix (such as TSLA_MBO), where you will then get the price and volume data from the "U.S. Equities Consolidated Tape" along with the Market Depth data from the "NASDAQ TotalView".
