Dear Support

I like to display the SPX and want to ask you how to do that. I only want to display and chart the price, I dont want to actually trade it. Can I just receive the data and not activate the S&P Indices exchange? Also in the case I do need to activate the exchange, could you please let me know what steps to take in order to display the SPX? and what costs this incurs.

Kindly

The SPX cash index is a CBOE product. As such, you can not get any data for it unless you pay for it. To get this real-time data, you would need to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed and activate the CBOE Indices exchange. The cost for this would be $30.25 per month ($25.00 for the Connection Fee and $5.25 for the exchange itself) Follow the instructions at the following link:
Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed: Setup Instructions

There is a similar data for a CFD that has the symbol SPX500, which is available at no cost, as the real-time CFD data from FXCM is free with any Sierra Chart package. Refer to the following regarding this data:

SPY is an ETF traded on the NYSE.

As such, it is available as Delayed Streaming Data (15 minutes delayed) through our NASDAQ TotalView exchange. Just open a symbol for SPY-NQTV to get the delayed data.

You would need either the U.S. Equities exchange that is part of the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed, or you would need the NASDAQ TotalView Exchange that is part of the Denali Exchange Data Feed.

The reason there are two options is that there are tradeoffs to each, which we are working on, but for now, here are the differences:
- U.S. Equities on Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed: Has full volume information (Consolidated Tape) from all exchanges. It does not have Market Depth data. To setup this data, refer to the instructions here:
Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed: Setup Instructions

- NASDAQ TotalView on Denali Exchange Data Feed: Only has volume from primary exchange (does not have consolidated tape). It does have Market Depth data. To setup this data, refer to the instructions here:
Denali Exchange Data Feed: *Setup Instructions: All Other Exchanges*

Also refer to the information for the NASDAQ TotalView here:

Hello there,

picking up the conversation: after deleting the QQQ from my charts a while ago I want to show it again. Admittedly I can’t remember and I’m getting confused with the terminology U.S. Equities on Sierra Chart Exchange Data and NASDAQ TotalView on Denali Exchange Data Feed. I don’t understand which is which and what each does. Can you be so kind and first, let me know what I need to activate in my account to technically able to show it and second what symbol I need to be using to show it on my charts?

Let me please add that I only want to display the qqq not trade it or anything in case this is relevant

EDIT: I pulled up the symbol qqq-nqtv and it seems to be working fine. Though there is a question left: it seems i can only get data for the last 5 trading days for qqq. Could you please let me know whats missing in my profile to show more than 5 days?

We see that you have both the "U.S. Equities Consolidated Tape" and the "NASDAQ TotalView" exchanges active. So you can get real-time data for either exchange. To get data for the "U.S. Equities Consolidated Tape" you need to use the standard symbol (QQQ), whereas to get data for the NASDAQ TotalView exchange you need to add the suffix of -NQTV (QQQ-NQTV), and finally, if you want to get a combination of the two you would use the suffix of _MBO (QQQ_MBO).

The U.S. Equities Consolidated Tape has full volume information for all the exchanges on which a symbol trades, but we do not have the Market Depth data for this exchange.

The NASDAQ TotalView has only volume information from the NASDAQ exchange for stocks. But it does have the Market Depth for that exchange.

Therefore, when you combine the two with the _MBO option, you get the full volume and price action for all exchanges with the Market Depth data from the NASDAQ.

It is your choice on which one to use based on what you need.

Thank you very much.

Regarding the data: Im not talking about data for NQ. I specifically mean the QQQ. I attached my QQQ-NQTV chart.

No matter how I change the data load limiting method or change the range in file or days to load settings, the chart always defaults back to showing the last 5 days only. Can you please have a look?

When we referenced NASDAQ we were talking about the exchange, not the futures symbol, so everything we stated was in relation to QQQ.

There is no reason for you to have any issue getting data further back than 5 days. We just opened a chart for both QQQ and QQQ-NQTV and we can get data further back.

Try changing the symbol to QQQ to start, so you will get the data from the U.S. Equities Consolidated Tape. Then if you are not getting data further back, set "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Date Range in File From" to "2023-12-01". When you select OK, the system will ask you if you want to download data back to that date, be sure to answer "yes". Let the system download the data, then change your "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Days to Load" to "50", and let us know if you do not get the data back to about to about the middle of December.
