Hello, I'm just wondering what the proper setting are for my four hour candle chart on the ES. Right now it starts at midnight and says use Global Time. What does that mean? I read somewhere four hour charts are supposed to start at midnight of the symbol's exchange time zone. That would be Chicago I guess for ES. I don't know. Any suggestions? Also my Daily ES Historical Chart seems to be starting at midnight Global Time Zone too. Thanks for any help. -Chance

First thing to understand is that there is a Global Time Zone set through Global Settings >> Time Zone Settings. By default, the charts use this Global Time Zone. But, if you want a chart to use a different time zone, then you can change this for the one chart in Chart >> Chart Settings >> Session Times >> Time Zone.

The time zone you want to use is up to you. Just be aware that it is easiest to use the time zone for where the exchange itself is located, as this eliminates issues with Daylight Saving Time changes. Refer to the following:
Time Zone Setting: Resolving Differences with the Transition To/From Daylight Savings Time in Different Time Zones

With regards to when a session should start or end, again that is up to you. This is controlled through the Session Times. Refer to the following:
