I have a hotkey set for flatten and cancel and sometimes when I try to flatten I get. It seems I have to click the hotkey twice for it to actually flatten. It is not a order size issue w/ the broker, because I had less that half the allotted size.

The message you are getting:

Is saying that you do not have an open position, therefore there is nothing to flatten. Hitting the Flatten button again (or hotkey for Flatten) should not have any effect, except to give you the same message again.

Are you sure those messages are not from the second time you try to flatten, where the position is already closed by the first Flatten command?

There is a difference between an open Order and a Position.

You need to examine the Trade Activity Log for any other information about the orders or positions:
