existing sc user opened a new account with same broker (transact). ive changed acct name, nbr and pw in settings, data trade serv settings, but get this error message;

There are two possible reasons for this.

1. The password entered in Sierra Chart is incorrect. Please ensure that it is entered properly. Note that you can view the actual password being entered by using the "Show" button to the right of the password entry field.

2. The account is not authorized with TransAct to use Sierra Chart. Refer to the following:

login error 2

the above problem was temporarily resolved until today.

i followed the instructions in the original response and was able to logon last friday. it has worked for a couple days (i successfully logged on this morning),

however intraday today i updated a symbol (rolled up) and rec'd a message that i needed to download the latest version sc which i did. and now i am unable to logon again with the same pw and/or uid error message at the logon screen. this was done on one machine.

my other machine is running fine although i haven't tried to update to the current released version yet

Where are you getting the error message this time? Is it on the Sierra Chart login itself, so you are not able to login to Sierra Chart itself, or are you getting the same error message as before from TransAct?

the error message occurs from the sc logon screen. this is where it originally occurred but then it was due to transact not updating my account opting into sc. i called, they corrected. i was then able to logon to both machines since last friday. i double checked this afternoon.

i logged in this morning on one machine (i left the other running overnight). logon was successful. later in the day i noticed missing data on one of the daily charts. i went to chart settings reset to roll up to current contract and changed settings to 'continuous contract volume based back adjusted'. message came back that i needed to download current version. i did. appeared successful. i then tried to load/logon and rec'd the sc logon error message that pw or account name is in error.

these things wouldn't seem to have anything in common other than the sequence of events. i have not tried to 'retrieve lost password'

Given the message you are getting, there is definitely an error in either the Account Name or the Password when you are logging into Sierra Chart. Be sure you re-enter both of them to ensure that there wasn't an accidental change somehow. Also, keep in mind that your Sierra Chart Account Name starts with TransAct_User_ followed by the rest of the account information. You need to have the full name in the Account Name.
