For some reason, when I am attempting to replay my chart, it keeps pausing, and I have to manually keep pressing play again...

It is actually pausing and the button to continue the replay then becomes "Play"?

We do not know why that would be the case. There is no functionality like this. How are you starting the replay?

Yes the replay is actually pausing and I have to click “play” again. I’ve ran many replays before and never had this issue... seems to be constant now.

The implication of this is that you are actually at the end of the chart. So when you select Play it doesn't have anything to replay, so it flips back to the "Play" button.

How are you starting the Replay? Are you entering a start Date/Time or are you scrolling the chart back to an earlier time?

Just be very careful one time and double check where you are starting the replay and see if you have the same issue and let us know.

@SCE

I have two instances running, instance two is running a replay (working fine), and when I try to run a replay in parallel in instance 1, that is when I experience the behavior stated above.

Instances are completely separate from one another, so apart from computer resources, there is nothing that would cause this between two instances of Sierra Chart.

If you run the replay in just "Instance 1" without running one in "Instance 2", does it run properly?

And when you are seeing this issue, is the Chart Replay in "Instance 1" in fact stopping and the "Pause" button is replaced with the "Play" buttton? Or is it just running very slowly and appearing to stop?

@SCE
in instance 1, the pause button changes to the play button. The replay completely stops which is very odd. I’ve even tried to replay instance 1 on another PC and I get the same behavior.

Could a custom study be causing this?

How are you determining where to start the replay from? Are you scrolling back the chart and starting from there, or are you using the Use Start Date/Time option on the Replay window?

@SCE - John I figured out that it's my custom study for capturing above/below bid/ask prices. Any reason why this would cause the replay to stop?

We can not say what it might be. The obvious is if you have something in there trying to control the replay. But otherwise, we do not know what it would be offhand, you would need to go through it to figure it out.

Hi,

I have the same problem. I'm not using any custom studies. Did any of you find the root cause for this? Thanks.

As soon as I removed the spreadsheet system for trading study replay worked. Which setting in the spreadsheet causes this?

In the "Spreadsheet System for Trading" in Column I is an item for "Pause Chart Replay". Any value in the J column at that row will cause the replay to constantly pause. Make sure this is a blank cell.

Thanks John. This wasn't there earlier. I think with one of the recent updates this got added, some of my other rows also have incoherent values automatically added to it.

This may be due to a change that we made to re-order the list of items in columns I and J. There is an Input on the Spreadsheet studies for "Use Column I and J Values Version 2" that lets you decide which version you want to use. Refer to the following:
Spreadsheet Study Inputs: Use Column I and J Values Version 2

This is related: Latest update flipped spreadsheet's 'Use Column I and J Values Version 2' = No to = Yes :(

Update 2528 -> 2567/8 changed I & J columns. I flipped 'Use Column I and J Values Version 2' to No, so I don't see the 'replay' word in row 111 but replay pauses still. Same for other J columns incoherent values I'm talking about. So the flipping it back wasn't exactly like a backwards compatible rollback for the spreadsheet study I'm guessing.

With the input for "Use Column I and J Values Version 2" set to "No", the option for "Pause Chart Replay" is in row 111.

With the Input for "Use Column I and J Values Version 2" set to "Yes", the option for "Pause Chart Replay" is in row 29.

If you are still having an issue, please let us know.
