Hello,

In the update 2568, I think, this option was by default changed from 'Use Column I and J Values Version 2' = No to = Yes. So when I updated to latest, my spreadsheet changed without any heads up. This caused me a lot of pain with my automated/algo trading setup this morning. Luckily the loss was contained to ~$2k, but it could've been much bigger.

Can you please pass this feedback on to the engineering team?

Thank you,
Nisarg

We do not know why this has happened. That Input is always false and there is nothing that would set it to true. We saw an instance of this issue with another user and did not know what the cause was. We will do some testing to see what we can find out.

Do you know what version you were previously running?

I'm not 100% sure but mostly 2564 or later? Is there a way to find out from logs, then I can look. Thanks.

If you have the setting for "Global Settings >> Log >> Save Message Log to File" set to "Yes", then you could look at your saved Message Logs to see what version you were running. It will be near the top of the log. The logs are stored in the folder named "Logs" under your main Sierra Chart installation folder. The Message Logs will start with "Message Log...".

We are not able to reproduce this using a version from a month ago. That new version 2 Input (Use Column I and J Values Version 2) remains the disabled at the setting of No, after opening the Chartbook, in the latest version

We will assume that you were running 2564. We need you to provide a Chartbook, before the update. You will find a backup in the Backups folder. For more information refer to:

Attach that Chartbook here following these instructions:

I checked and there are no Message Logs in the Logs folder, but I do have "Installation Logs..." files. I'll enable this option now, so it can be helpful for future.

I have attached the .Cht file from a personal backup, let me know if anything else is needed.

I think I might be running something in between 2564-2568, because I remember updating to 2567 over the weekend. And that caused issues with all my studies, started showing "failed to load custom study at C:\users..." in the Studies window.

Found an example of the failure to load study point I was talking about in the last message. Attached.

This was an older version, 2528, from another desktop I use. I will try to add a spreadsheet and update to Current version and get back, in case I have a repro of today morning's debacle. Thanks.

I'm able to repro when I updated from 2528 -> current (2568).

Over the weekend I updated from 2528 -> 2567 most likely. That's why the quick troubleshooting of rolling back to previous version didn't work, I think. You should be able to repro for update from 2528 -> 2567 as well.

We now know why this most likely occurred. It is not going to be a common problem and not something which would be a new issue affecting current versions. It would have been something that we really should have been hearing about months ago but did not.

It would affect a small number of users. What we are going to do in the next release is we will force that Input (Use Column I and J Values Version 2) to No and put in the release notes to check the Input.

The issue in post #8 is unrelated. It means you have to update Sierra Chart to run the version of the study you have.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

Does this mean that if I move over to the new way of doing columns IJ, that's version 2...it would break on installing the next release because now I need Yes but it will be force changed to No?
