I hadn't used Sierra for 6 or 7 months and a few days ago I reinstalled the new version and have been having problems with intraday data. I use Gain OEC and am aware of the 5 contract limitation they impose. I spoke with my broker and Gain does have me up to 30 contracts available. I have 6 currency chartbooks available and most of them range from April 14th to April 19th as to the earliest intraday data. I do have historical data available on all of them which works as it should. I also have one more chartbook in which I have grains, meats, indices, etc and they all work with historical and only a few days each of intraday. Gain assures me that there are no problems on their end. I have read all of the self help info, including some that I have written in the past but I'm at an impasse. Any ideas where to start? Thanks

Jon

You really need to use the Denali Exchange Data Feed for proper data. This data feed is only 10 USD a-month more (Before discount) and then you can pay for the nonprofessional fees, which are very inexpensive for top of book data. As little as 1 USD a-month.

Instructions:
Denali Exchange Data Feed: *Setup Instructions: CME/CBOT/NYMEX/COMEX Exchanges*

Once again take our advice do not struggle with the gain capital data feed. We have made the Denali data feed available very inexpensively to the user base to solve all of the problems and limitations with other feeds.

We can help you with this set up if necessary .

I have used Gain for years and don't really care to switch. I have had problems between Gain and Sierra in the past that have ALWAYS been rectified.

Before I go changing my data feed I can send you the message log in the morning. Hopefully you can see in the log what needs to be done. Any problems I've had in the past has been solved by you looking in the log, seeing the problem, and me making the necessary changes.

Also, I buy and sell a lot of options and I know that Sierra does not handle options. I have to use the Gain proprietary software to trade options so Denali is out of the question for me.

In the next couple of months we will be having to withdraw the Sierra Chart provided historical data for Gain Capital for various reasons.

So Gain Capital users will have to start to use the Denali Exchange Data Feed anyway:
Denali Exchange Data Feed

And we think there is a misunderstanding here. The Denali Exchange Data Feed is a data feed only. It is not order routing.

Also, I buy and sell a lot of options and I know that Sierra does not handle options.
This is not a problem and Sierra Chart does support options:

But this is not really relevant anyway if you are using the gain capital software for trading those.

I just signed up for 6 months of Denali with CME data. I assume things will run smoothly now. Sorry for the confusion but I hadn't used Sierra in quite some time and didn't realize the changes. Thanks for the help!

Everything looks good in terms of your setup. Just keep in mind that you will need to pay the Exchange Fees on a monthly basis. Those are separate from the Sierra Chart package cost.

The $3.25 comes out of my Sierra account I assume? I added enough to my account to pay 6 months of Denali and 6 months of CME data

And yes, you do have enough funds in your account to cover the monthly cost of the exchange when it comes due each month.
