Hello,
Just want to let you know guys there are bad performance over to the market data stream. I don't think it is much delay or anything but it is not tick data. Chart update in chart trade mode happens once in just under a second (almost a second between updates) - is it the way it supposed to be? I counted 30 updates in 27 seconds just after the market open this morning. It is system wide. Not the end of the world BUT in certain situations it can cost you for not good reason. Especially when market is very active, there should be updates happening at the speed of 45 milliseconds (my setting) - it should happen at least 20x more for the setting.
What could it be?
I encourage other people to do the count - just do when the market is active enough like US open. Just curious if it just me having this.
Thanks

I had a basically a freeze for about 5-10 seconds at the "open" this morning. It seems it's getting worse but that could be to additional opening volume this morning. I was on v2172 this morning. Something has changed, I never saw these delays/freezes/pauses ever until the past few releases. it seems to me it started with the millisecond timestamping.

I'll observe again on the new v2173 release tomorrow.

To User316362: That is different problem you describing. It is bottlenecking - could be your switch, modem, adapter, ISP, network, etc...
I'm still waiting on response from SC about my issue.

no it's not on my end. it changed with the introduction of the new MS timestamp. sorry to log it here, but but your topic was performance problems.

I and others may have to revert back to older versions pre timestamp changes and older libraries to get opening performance back.

Ok
I just checked and Book performs very nicely over the evening so yes the problem is only when markets are active and that is when you need the full stream the most... At least it is not in "freeze" but still should be way better...

We want to point out that the user at post #1 is using CQG, and the user at post #2 is using the Denali data feed. Based upon what is described in post #1, the first thing we want you to refer to is this help topic:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

This is not related to millisecond time stamping. There are no bandwidth changes with millisecond time stamping for CQG users. Millisecond time stamping is irrelevant. It may have some effect on the Denali data feed but at this point, that is just not relevant anymore due to compression being used. And it is not enough of a change to suddenly start causing a problem.

We want you to update to the latest prerelease which is 2173:
Software Download: Fast Update

And also we have learned enough about the problem to know that the reason for the issue is not any one particular thing but there can be different causes for each case and on different days.

Now what is much more significant is increased market activity. When there is an increase in market activity, then that is the one change that is out of our control. But we are using larger buffer sizes on the network communication core. And the Denali data feed now uses compression which completely negates the impact of larger amount of data transfer.

Was a combination of both client and server-side improvements. We are fully deploying more fine-tuning on the server this evening.
