I tried to hide certain regions by advanced settings 2 > region > state but the regions won't go away and the studies remain showing in them?

The setting you are referring to is just for the Region Data Line, which is the informational data line at the top of each region. Refer to the information here: Chart Settings: Region Data Lines (List) (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Regions >> Region Data Line menu) The only way to remove a region is to either hide or remove all the studies that are in that region.
