I then need to trust the owner of the server not to be malicious, the other VPS tenants not to be malicious, pay the overhead to administer/patch the server, deal with the overhead of running 4K resolution over RDP which introduces some additional latency, etc.

It is a solution, of a sort, but I'm not sure SC provides enough value to justify all the additional hassle.

All the other platforms "just work" over the Internet. Yes they have outages, but not daily issues. Yes, I've run TT-W from Mexico and it's fine. And Interactive Brokers' TWS Desktop and Android.

It's probably some sort of 'bufferbloat' somewhere, and I sympathise with your position, but IMO you ought not to be continually increasing the amount of data your feed pushes when there aren't valid business reasons (for your customers) to do so. Nobody's P&L is being impacted by the presence/absence of millisecond time stamping on a retail feed; or the ability to guess their queue position 50 levels out.

There are incorrect conclusions in post #25. This could not be related to timestamps. We did mention, that could contribute to it in a small way but only in that there is more data transmitted in that case but it never made sense as being the main issue.

We think we now know what the issue is and have explained it here:

We want you to reduce the bandwidth being used:

Real-Time Exchange Data Feeds Available From Sierra Chart: Low Bandwidth Option

I have enabled the Low Bandwidth Option for testing this week. The issue is likely to do with buffering somewhere. 4k RDP is likely to suffer from issues if there is public Internet congestion between me and the Chicago server. Hopefully this solution allows me to keep using Sierra.

We do not think you need to use that but you can try it. At this point we are quite sure we know what the problem is. All the latest information is here:
