Trading with Sierra and AMP

I am about to transfer my trading capital to AMP and trade using Sierra. I have one major issue and another question before I get started.

1. Here is the major issue. The data service I currently use is Sierra Data - All Services. That is only for data however. For live trading, I would think I would need to switch to Sierra Futures Routing. If I switch to Sierra Futures Routing, there is a box that pops up asking me if I want to convert all the symbols. If I say no, all the charts freeze and the DOM has no data. If I say yes, the CME data service it switches to does not quite work for my charts. See the attached png. For the daily ES chart, it does not have data going back more than 4 months.

What is a good way to have trading service along with a good data service? I really like Sierra Data - All Services. If I have to, I will work from two installations but would prefer to avoid that.

Also, if the data service is through Sierra Order Routing, is Denali used somewhere at all?

2. Suppose I submit a market order. My understanding is that sierra sends it to TT with some header information, TT verifies with my broker, and TT routes it to CME. Is that right? Is it the same process for limit and stop orders?

3. Does my broker AMP support OCO orders? If a broker does not support a complex order, such as an attached order with multiple stops and targets, where does the order reside before it goes to CME? In particular, does my desktop have to be up and running for the order to progressively execute or does what remains of a partially executed order reside on Sierra's servers.

4. Right now I have to reload payment to Sierra from time to time. Is there a way to make that automatic?

1. You will need to set Sierra Chart to use the Sierra Chart Order Routing Service.

Follow the instructions here to download any missing data:
Continuous Futures Contract Charts: Re-Downloading Continuous Futures Contract Data

2. This is not a correct technical understanding. If the concern is about low latency order routing, it is sub millisecond order routing when using the Sierra Chart order routing service.

3. This is all explained here:
Attached Orders: Management of Attached Orders when Trading Service Supports Server Side OCO Only

Attached Orders: Management of Attached Orders when Trading Service Supports Server Side Bracket Orders

When using the Sierra Chart Order Routing Service, server-side OCO and bracket orders are used.

4. Automatic payments are not supported.

I am with AMP and using SC Package 3 with Sierra Routing/Denali for trading CME Index Futures.

When you sign up with AMP, during signup, just indicate to them you want to use SC and Denali. SC Package 3 is free. Package 5 is additional charge.

AMP will setup the Denali service with SC for you. Sign the paperwork in your SC account when notified.

As I recall, that's pretty much it.

Be careful about checking the "Lower Trading Margin" offer during signup because I'm pretty sure it means paying higher commissions. Margins are already low enough, anyway.

You can have all charges related to SC come out of your AMP account automatically, which makes things much easier.

Thanks to both Sierra and ondafringe for getting back.

Regarding item 2, I was trying to form a rough idea how the Sierra, TT, broker, and CME servers talk to each other. But I can understand that the information is outside the scope of this board.

The round-trip latency is not really a concern. I would believe that the round-trip between a co-located server and CME is of the order of a millisecond in ideal conditions. The TCP/IP stack, over which FIX is layered, is highly optimized in Linux and I would expect that CME, Sierra, TT, and my broker all have servers with low-latency DRAM memory. However, the round-trip latency between my desktop in MI and Chicago is of the order of 25 ms. Latency can degrade significantly when servers are loaded. During RTH, I would be impressed if the round-trip time from a market order leaving my desktop to an acknowledgement of that order arriving back on my desktop is less than 50 milliseconds. Velocity of light alone will contribute several milliseconds.

ondafringe: thanks for all your tips. I am already set up with AMP and have been playing with Sierra for more than a month. I will make sure that I am not signed up for "lower trading margin."

Latency can degrade significantly when servers are loaded.
This is certainly not going to be true on the Sierra Chart side. The servers do not experience any type of unusual load even during the busiest of times.
