I realize that you can go into hand mode (Alt-H) and click and drag the chart horizontally and I know you can click and drag the y-axis up/down to pan the chart vertically. But what I REALLY want to do is click the left mouse button on the chart and just be able to pan the chart with 360 degrees of freedom. When you're trading a fast moving trading instrument, it's simply the fastest and most comfortable way to adjust the chart to keep the current price bars away from the borders. On fast charts, like a 10 second on the NQ futures, this is something I've really loved using (from one of your competitors).

But let me ask it this way. Since this charting package has been around for over 15 years, I'm pretty sure the developers have zero interest in implementing this feature. If they did, it would have been done a long time ago.

So here's the real question:

Is it possible for me to programatically add this 360 degree panning feature as a Study to a chart? Are all the needed routines there to make adjustments to the orientation of the chart itself relative to the high/low price on the x-axis and low/high time on the x-axis available?

click the left mouse button on the chart and just be able to pan the chart with 360 degrees of freedom.

You can already do this, using the hand tool when this option is enabled 'Global Settings' ->'Tool Settings' -> 'Support Vertical Scaling/Movement With Hand Tool'

Chart Drawing Tools: Support Vertical Scaling/Movement With Hand Tool (Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> General >> Tool Options)

Can we just have the drag option with the crosshair while pressing the left mouse button like we have with the hand or pointer tool? Doesnt make sense, that the crosshair doesnt have this.

Therefore activating the crosshair lines should take place AFTER releasing the left mouse button. Right now its before the button release. The question is how one distinguish between a simple mouse click(crosshair lines on/off)) and the chart dragging duration. I guess a simple click doesnt take more than 600 milli seconds. And dragging a chart should usually take longer than that. Could be a good treshold.

Thanks

I agree with the previous poster. Having 360 degrees of panning with crosshairs always active so I can see price and time axis highlights is the ideal combination for me. Making them different modes loses valuable time in intraday trading.

You can do this with the Chart Values setting for Action When Other Tools Selected. Refer to the information for this in this section:
