I am currently using SC 1070 and now find I cannot perform a futures rollover retaining the past bars for any contract ; the "join previous data" field is blanked out. This was not been the case before. Whats up? The user's manual doesn't mention any change. If you are using IB you might get only 5 days! This is very frustrating.

The feature has been removed. From the What Is New page:

The Join Previous Data option on the Chart >> Perform Futures Symbol Rollover window has been removed. As a replacement for this option, use the new Continuous Futures Contract feature. The new Continuous Futures Contract feature is a major enhancement over what we have previously offered for continuous futures contracts. If you have been previously using Join Previous Data, then we recommend re-downloading the Intraday chart data to make sure the data in each futures contract file contains only data for that particular contract month. This can be done with Edit >> Delete All Data and Download (Not recommended with Interactive Brokers).

Update Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Prerelease.

After this, use the new Continuous Futures Contract feature:

I notice in the literature that: " Note: If you are with Interactive Brokers and using their data instead of the Sierra Chart market data feed, then please do not use this feature or ask Sierra Chart support about problems when using this feature with their data. " What does this mean?

We just do not want people pushing the feature to the extreme with Interactive Brokers because they almost certainly will run into lots of pacing violations and the feature will not work properly in this case.

It is OK to use the Continuous Futures Contract feature with Interactive Brokers data, but limit the Days to Load in Chart >> Chart Settings to about 30 days and generally you should be fine.

If I wanted to install a previous version of SC that will allow me to use the perform futures rollover feature, which would be the most recent one I could use?

This would be version 1065 or earlier.

But we really highly recommend using the new feature. You should be fine if you already have existing futures contract data files when using Interactive Brokers. The problem comes is when Sierra Chart has to download new data, and that is what the notice was in relation to.

We also offer our own futures data feed that the feature works well with:

We are working very hard to improve Sierra Chart and to make it very reliable and easy to use as possible.

Our recommendation is to subscribe to the Sierra Chart Real-time and Historical Futures Data Feed until the end of the month:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php

What you then need to do is open up all the Charts that you will be working with and use the new Continuous Futures Contract option on them. Re-download all of the data in those charts with Edit >> Delete All Data and Download. After this is done you can cancel the service. So for less than $15 you get all of the quality data you need. This is a really good deal.

The service has data for the CME markets. Do you need any other markets? It does have ICE and EUREX but you have to pay the exchange fees. But you can access delayed historical data for ICE and EUREX if you just do not connect to Interactive Brokers. We can explain this more.
