[Locked] - Very long chartbook loading time

Some of my chartbooks take a very long time to load.
Take for example the symbol NG. I want to have long term continuous future charts but it seems from the message log that the historical daily data is redownloaded every single time I restart SC and open the chartbook.

I do not understand why old historical data from 10-20 years ago should be redownloaded for me to load my chartbook. This takes forever.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Tell us the exact symbol of the chart and we will test.

We checked loading the natural gas data (NG) back to June 1998 and we do not see anything unusual. The loading is fast. Just a few seconds. It did take a few minutes though for the initial data downloading. Chart:

How many days are being loaded in the chart?

Thank you for looking into it. I use 15000 days to make sure all available data is being downloaded. I know it doesn't go that far, but it doesn't change the issue to half that number.

I doesn't take more than minutes to download and seconds to load the chart once data is downloaded for me either. My issue is not the time it initially takes but the fact it downloads this old data over and over again. With a dozen of symbols it can take 20 minutes of downloading on startup. I don't understand why I bought the fastest SSD on the market if old historical data which is already stored on my drive has to be redownloaded every time I restart.

I'm seeing the same thing with a continuous contract for CLK20_FUT_NYMEX (and others). The re-downloading only happens if the chartbook is opened at startup. If I open it manually later on, it doesn't redownload the data.

It only seems to happen in a sub-instance. The same symbol, with more days to load, loads quickly in the main instance.

We determined the reason for the problem. It has to do with the default rollover rules for this symbol. We are making an adjustment. This is causing Sierra Chart to see there is missing data and it will download data for those contract months, at the usual times.

We also have implemented a backup solution which will be out in the next release.

In regards to post #6 re-download the data:

Following that procedure didn't fix the issue.

It looks like the continuous contract data gets re-downloaded when:
- Chartbooks are set to open on startup in a sub-instance
- The same symbol is open in multiple chartbooks
- At least one of the charts for the symbol is set to continuous contract
