version 2040 slow/lags

I recently upgraded to 2040 and on two different computers, I have a slowness or lag in SC, not in any other software I run. Placing a line or resizing the screen, everything I do is slow. I went back to 2031 today and it is running fine no problem. I am on W10 64 newest version. The only software running with the 2040 was IB Feb 5 update, nothing else. 2031 is fine with IB right now. This is definitively a system specific and user specific issue. Newer versions provide higher performance as compared to prior versions. We would not be able to reproduce this issue ourselves. If anyone is having this problem-- I was on the latest IB TWS and went to the Sept 2019 standalone version 972.1v that does not update itself and the problem is solved.

Makes no sense to us why TWS would have any effect on this.

With the newest updating version of TWS, when I loaded 2 or 3 workspaces in SC, I would see price quotes in TWS go away, maybe half the page. If I disconnected SC they would repopulate. Load a 4th workspace and quotes will disappear. I have this non-updating version mentioned above and I have loaded the same workspaces with no quote issues, but if I load 6 workspaces the quotes in TWS go blank, bottom half of the page.. Same thing happens in both, but newer version is more sensitive to the load of symbols from SC, once I load enough into SC to make TWS start losing quotes then SC starts to lag. Just wanted to point this out. Started to notice this in early Jan.since TWS has had what I consider more updates than usual. JUst from my observations. thank you. |

Ok thank you. One thing we would say, is Sierra Chart continues to get faster. In addition to new functionality, which does not create any additional CPU burden, we continue to make existing code more efficient. So that is why when someone mentions a performance issue, we know that it must be something specific to their system or configuration and something unusual going on. Now if you notice a performance issue after updating from a version 2 or more years ago, then yes it is possible there could be something that is less efficient perhaps may be related to formula processing due to more functionality available with that but we are working on optimizing that as well.
