Memory not releasing

After testing an ACSIL custom study on a chart, my memory usage increased to the point where my PC rebooted.

On next relaunch of Sierra, I was automatically updated to Version 2017.

I removed study from chart, but each time I started Sierra (with no files open) memory usage increased to max (16GB) after several minutes, at which point I File Exited system to avoid system not responding or rebooting. Memory per Task Manager is then quickly released.

I did the following, but nothing has prevented memory usage from gradually increasing to max after a few minutes:
1. Started Sierra in Safe Mode (Topic 30.16)
2. Started windows 10 in Safe with Networking mode (Topic 30.31).

We definitely do not think this is caused by Sierra Chart itself. Must be some other explanation. Refer to:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.28 - Memory or Graphics Device Interface Object Leak

High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.31 - System Memory Not Releasing

Also, if you are running in Safe Mode custom studies would not be used. So it does not sound like it is from a custom study.

The GDI Objects stayed constant at 101 as the memory usage increased.

I'm not sure if this helps diagnose, but I noticed that the "I/O read bytes" column of the Details tab of Task Manager showed a fairly constant increase while Sierra was open, while I/O write bytes had almost no change. The "reads" were very also high (17 billion and climbing) compared to next highest Process (which was mostly steady at 1.5 billion).

We just do not see how problem like this could be within Sierra Chart and must be specific to your particular system.

If you just open one chart with no studies or a simple study like a moving average, do you notice any problem?

Yes, I opened with just one chart with no studies, and the same problem happened.

I also opened Sierra Chart on my desktop with NO charts open, and the same problem happened.

To see if I could isolate it as a problem with something to do with my desktop, I copied the full SierraChart subdirectory from my desktop (where the issue was first encountered) to a laptop, using the steps in "Simple Transfer/Copy of Sierra Chart Installation to Another Folder or Computer System". And I had the same issue on the laptop as I had on my desktop.

I was going to rollback the version on my laptop to version 2011 (I was not getting the memory leak problem at that point), using "Software Rollback Procedure" in the documentation, but I was given the following message in the log: Incorrect URL when getting files list to download. I am not sure if this needs to be done, but I thought it might tell us something.

There definitely is not a memory leak problem in Sierra Chart. There is another explanation. Furthermore there has never been any issue like this ever.

We will have to look at this with remote assistance. Make sure your current telephone number is set here:

Confirm this is the correct number. We can contact you in the evening.

This issue is now resolved for the user. It related to a 14 GB trade activity log file.
