US stocks data - not updating

I'm not subscribed to a real-time US stocks feed but I understand intraday data is automatically updated every 20 minutes. This doesn't seem to be happening in my SC install. I have to 'Delete and Download Data' on each of the charts that are open to get the latest quotes. Is there an option to have the data downloaded automatically to all of the charts that are open?

We see you are using sub instances. Does this happen with a sub instance?

In the Data/Trade Service Settings in the main instance of Sierra Chart, be sure the setting for Intraday Download Interval for Non-Real Time Symbols is set to the value for which you want the updates to occur. The minimum setting is 20 minutes. If it is set to 0, then the symbol will not update automatically.

Thanks for that. I had it set to 60 minutes

Do sub-instances update every 20 minutes for non real-time US stocks or is it just the main instance? I noticed the sub-instance I have open only seems to update at the end of the day. I'm using 336 hour timeframe charts.

It appears sub-instances don't update non real-time charts automatically. Can you add that feature in the next release?

I'm guessing from the silence that sub-instances are not capable of updating non-real time symbols (which is not good).

A sub instance has no way to know whether streaming real-time data is available for a symbol or not. So symbols that are not receiving the real-time data are not going to be periodically updated with historical data.

For the time being what you can just simply do is periodically manually re-connect to the data feed which will bring the Intraday charts up-to-date :

Ok, I see. Is this a feature that is going to be added to sub-instances in the future? Just that I have five sub-instances open with non-real time charts. Having to manually select the Reconnect option on each instance throughout the day is going to be a real chore.

Is there a particular reason you didn't build non real-time chart updates (Global Settings > Intraday Download Interval For Non Real-time Symbols (min)) into the sub-instances? Or did you forget to add that functionality?

We already answered this:
A sub instance has no way to know whether streaming real-time data is available for a symbol or not. So symbols that are not receiving the real-time data are not going to be periodically updated with historical data.

But we will see if there is a solution which is not difficult to implement.

Hi, Just wondered if you had looked into a solution to update historical data in sub-instances. It would be a good addition. I'm actually thinking of moving to a new provider because of this small issue.
