Default tool setting

Hi

I have not got the default tool setting to work based on config set in a TC level.

I read https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Tools.html#UsingMultipleDrawingToolConfigurations. However, using Line tool for example, I set the global config for TC1 to be solid line width 1, TC2 solid line width 2, TC3 dashed line alert on. The last loaded TC level is TC1.

When I pick a line from the menu or toolbar, it's always drawn as dashed width 1 and when I right click on it, no TC level is shown loaded, no TC button is depressed. If I load TC1 - TC3 the dialog window shows the same values as I set in global config. But I can not draw a line with a TC level I want as my default which I use 90% of the time, even TC1.

Please advise.

Also, re line and other tools as well, I noticed this morning,

On a "No. of trades per bar" chart, I was able to draw a line and then move it where I wanted or copy and move. Now, for some reason, this morning, when I do that, a sloped line segment for example, moved or copied and dragged will change size (even though it's over bars) and even flips its orientation to vertical, etc. If I drag a line to the right, with the endpoint still over bars, it gets shorter or longer. Same thing happens on 30 min charts even. This was not happening before.

Not sure what is happening, how to fix this? DST changed today but my clock and SC are on the same DST time exactly.

How to draw a line over bars with no snapping?

Thanks

I tried also reloading Bitmex data from Oct 31 (right click on chart and Edit/Download data - intra day data) and no difference. The start anchor of a line is offset earlier and will not snap to a bar and the other problems explained earlier still exist. Before DST change on Nov 3, it all works properly; after Nov 3, it does not. My timezone auto adjusts to DST in SC and on my computer.

Thanks

1. In regards to the first post, make sure you have selected the Current Tool Configuration you want to use. This is explained here:
Chart Drawing Tools: Using Multiple Drawing Tool Configurations

2. In the case of a 24 hour 7 day a week market like crypto currencies, you are going to have to use UTC time for the chart because DST is going to cause out of order data around the transition times and is likely the reason for the problem. Refer to:

Thanks, But I had read that, and unless I missed it, I did not see and instructions on how to set a TC level say TC2 as the default for a tool, like line. So I have the TC levels set to what I want. But I want the default to be TC2 for the line tool so whenever I pick the line tool, the settings TC2 are used by default. How to do this?

Hi
Thanks but that's not what I am asking. The Custom Toolbar button sets the tool to the TC number when that is clicked. I'm not using that. The problem is that always TC3 is depressed when I open line config. I didn't set it as a default. Why is that and how to set TC1 as default? Even if I select TC1, and the dialog box changes to its settings, when I apply and click OK, and then reopen line config, again TC3 is depressed as default.
Thanks

Ok, thanks. I find the default is set like this:

a) To set a tool's default display AFTER you have set up your TC1, TC2, etc, as you want with line types colours, etc., etc., dismiss that dialog.

b) Then, for say a line, *without selecting a drawn line on a chart*, simply depress the line button or select 'line' from the pop up.

c) Then from Select Tools > Current Tool Config > Config # to select a specific TC configuration that will be the default for that tool and be indicated by check mark.

Regards

Thank you U536222!
It is a bit challenging to find out from the documentation how to set the default tool settings.. especially when one doesn't use the TC configs.

@U536222 for me (chart calculator tool) it only changes the currently drawn object.. it doesn't change the default - anyone know how to set a config as a default for all new chart calculator tools going forward? note: I'm on a pre-release version, I don't know if that makes a difference.
