How do I keep the trendlines from moving position on tick charts? Or I should probably clarify, it is number of trades chart.

The linked explanation states that "it is not possible for us to resolve something which is mathematically or technically impossible or illogical to resolve". But it is actually technically possible to solve it. Maybe not with your current implementation, but there is always a way to solve this issue mathematically and technically.

E.g. You can save additional metadata to the trendline at the time it is drawn and then use this data to determine the correct/expected position of the trendline after every new bar is formed and (re)position the trendline. How easy or hard to code this will depend on your current software architecture.

For traders who are used to trendline drawing it is quite uncomfortable not be able to draw them reliably in the future and to use rays instead.

You can solve this from your side. Just do not draw into the fill space on the right side of the chart or do not use variable length bars.

disadvantages of your proposed solutions:

1) "Do not draw into the fill space on the right side of the chart" - trendlines are usually into the future. A trendline drawn until the current bar is of less use. Or if the user wants to use it, the user needs to move it very often, bar after bar, which is waste of time.

2) "do not use variable length bars" - impossible for trades who rely on a chart and strategy that requires variable length bars.

3) "use rays" - when you draw dozens of rays your chart becomes full of rays (some of which you cannot even see where they start from or are too old to be relevant) which makes analysis harder.

Best solution would be to fix it on your side (it is possible), but this depends of course on your priorities.

We do not see anything that needs to be fixed. And you can be assured that is definitively never going to happen because chart drawings are linked to specific Date-Times. They have to be, with changing time frames per bar.

Wait, so this isn't going to be solved? This is an absolute nightmare my trend lines move every few minutes on my 2000vol chart... any more thoughts on a fix for this?

Refer to:

Once again:
