With versions 1959 and 1960, my second instance would be connected and calculating data, but it would be unresponsive to the mouse. I couldn't click on it to become active window down in windows taskbar and when window in view with others minimized, it still was unresponsive. The only way to close it was to end task the 2nd instance in windows task manager. I tried this multiple times. I'm now using v1957 with no problems. Using CQG

What do you have the Chart Update Interval set to in that second instance? Refer to:
General Settings Window: Chart Update Interval (Global Settings >> General Settings >> General >> Update Intervals)

We are not observing any problem in testing. How many charts do you have open?

There has been a change with the handling of timer events, but the result of that should be the exact opposite and lower CPU usage. Not a case where you are running into an unresponsive condition that you do not have on an earlier version.

So at this point we are not sure why there is an issue.

And we ourselves are not observing anything like this either.

At this point we do not know why there is a problem but as we said you should be getting the exact opposite result. And we do not notice any performance issue ourselves with 1960.

But we did make one change that perhaps may resolve it. This will be released in version 1961 coming out in about 20 minutes. Let us know if you still see the issue in that version.

I was in the process of optimizing my chartbook before updating again to recreate the problem. I had some old sheets from when i used to use rithmic that i was no longer using in one of the spreadsheets. I got this error after deleting them before it became unresponsive. I don't know if this problem is related but this error might help fix a bug if it is one.

I'm on CQG and when I run 1959 or 1960, after opening a chartbook sierra runs extremely slowly. It's I click X to close the window and the save dialog comes up after a little time but the 'yes' 'no' options don't display and I have to kill the process using task manager also. I'm running 500ms

I'll try 1961 and let you know if that helped

Can you privately attach here that Spreadsheet file and tell us, what particular sheets you are deleting. Or exactly how to reproduce. We will then see what the problem is. This is a separate issue though from the performance issue. We will look into it and resolve. We want the file as it exists before the sheets have been deleted and you can find a backup of it in the /Backups subfolder in the Sierra Chart installation folder.

We are still not totally clear about the performance issue but we have released 1961. Test that one and see if you have a problem still. We may need to do some optimizations related to generating timer events.

We still need to debug the problem with the spreadsheet so please provide that as explained in post #11.

However, we now understand the performance issue. We have explained this here:

1) Spreadsheet - I think i have a better understanding how i got that error. I had a spreadsheet study formula source # wrong in the settings and it did not match any of my charts numbers. So it produced this blank spreadsheet with no information on it and when i deleted the sheet. the exception error occurred. I've already fixed the source sheet # and no problems here after deleting it. Rare circumstance.

2) Performance - I've updated to v1961 and everything is running smoothly without having to make the change to 1000 ms.

Thank you

1. We would still appreciate getting the original spreadsheet file and your Chartbook and tell us what sheet you deleted so we can try to reproduce the condition because the exception should never occur under any circumstances.
