Hi Support Team,

On the Volume by Price study the Display Volume in Bars setting "Diagonal Ask Vol Bid Vol Difference" is a bit confusing as it's difficult to know if the diagonal volume comparison is negative or positive at the price level because the opposite diagonal calculation is the negative/positive of the same value.

Volume By Price Study: Display Volume in Bars

Would it be possible to either include a separate diagonal display type in the volume by price study similar to the numbers bars text display option "Ask Vol Bid Vol Difference Diagonal" which displays the text for the diagonal difference numbers as both negative or both positive based on the dominant bid or ask. The diagonal comparison on the numbers bars study is much easier to interpret than the diagonal comparison on the volume by price study when read from left to right.

Numbers Bars: Numbers Bars Text Types

Thank you for your consideration.

This has been added as an additional selection in the Display Volume in Bars Input for the Volume by Price study and is available in the current Pre-Release.

The name of the new option is Diagonal Ask Volume - Bid Volume. The only difference between this and the one above it in the list - Diagonal Ask Vol Bid Vol Difference is that the calculation is always performed as Ask - Bid, which results in the same values diagonally from each other, as opposed to negatives of each other.

The documentation for this new option can be found here:
Volume By Price Study: Display Volume in Bars

First of all, thanks for adding this feature. Would the following be possible? (I've tried different ways and it wasn't working the way I expected)

1) Remove one of the 2 numbers. That would mean seeing only the diagonal ask-bid at the ask price only:
2348 / -1333 @ 2800.25
-1333 / 248 @ 2800.00
would only be:
-1333 @ 2800.25
248 @ 2800.00

2) Have the bars colored based on the diagonal difference.
-1333 @ 2800.25 would be a red bar ( or any color)
248 @ 2800.00 would be a green bar (or any color)
(I've used "Bid Volume and Ask Volume Coloring Method"/"Diagonal Difference of Bid and Ask Volume Coloring", and it doesn't seem to do the trick.)

3) Could the bar size be based on the absolute value of the diagonal delta and not a ratio.
-1333 @ 2800.25 would be 5.375 times bigger than the 248 value @ 2800.00
(I've used "Volume Bar Calculation Method"/"Diagonal Ask Volume - Bid Volume", and it seems like the bar size is based on Diagonal Ask/Bid rather than Diagonal Ask-Bid, but I might be wrong)

Thank you for your time,

Each of these items would be changes to how the Volume by Price study current works. We will add these to our list of work items for this study, but we cannot commit to when we will be able to get these done. We might be able to get the first item done soon, as it is not too complicated, but the others definitely will take more time.

With regards to item 3), it does use the diagonal delta, but it determines which diagonal delta to use based on which side is dominant (Ask or Bid). This is fully explained in the documentation here:
Volume By Price Study: Volume Bar Calculation Method

Was lpfin123's request of "1) Remove one of the 2 numbers. That would mean seeing only the diagonal ask-bid at the ask price only:" ever implemented??

+1 I would really appreciate if lpfin123's first request (showing one number) could be implemented. If possible, I would like to create a delta bar profile based on the magnitude of the diagonal deltas, much like one that can be created for bid-ask volume profile.
