Hello,

I received a Sierra Chart file from another user and when I open the Chartbook they sent it is blank (no charts available to open). How do I open the file they sent?
I don't know if this is even a factor, but the sender uses IQFeed and I currently am using delayed Sierra data only.

Thank you,

If there are any charts in that Chartbook you will see them listed in the CW menu at the top of the main window.

And make sure you change the symbols to match the Sierra Chart Data service symbols. Refer to:

I clicked on the "CW" button and received a "no child windows open," message. Nothing else occurred.

I also referenced the link you sent me for help. I am not receiving any error messages of any kind so the instructions were largely not relevant. I still tried to "Find Symbol," etc., but all that did was open a new chart within the Chartbook File that was shared with me.
I have had 3 people send me files and I can't believe they all sent me chartbooks with no charts in them. I'm at a loss. How do I open the contents of these chartbooks?

Thank you

It does sound like the Chartbook you received is empty. However, attach the largest one here and we will have a look. Here are instructions:

I don't see any files attached here, but I'm going to reply anyway as the UPLOAD FILES window says the file was uploaded.

Another note: I received an error: error file not uploaded when trying to upload the CHT file in question. So, then I tried to upload the .scid file under it and it uploaded successfully. The .scid file is the one I'm attempting to send now.

At the moment we do not see any files shared to your Sierra Chart account.

That file certainly is empty that you have attached here. Possibly though it might be an incomplete download because it contains additional bytes after the header but that is not complete.

So they are sharing files to you through the file sharing feature within Sierra Chart?:

Or how?

They attempted to share the file with me via link in an email they sent me. See attached picture of how I received it. I had a heck of a time getting it into my Chartbook. And, obviously once there no charts contained within. Any other suggestions?

Thank you,

So after you save that file, is the file size 1 MB?

It is showing as 1.41MB when downloaded to my Downloads folder.

File size listed in my Chartbook as 18 B which is the same number listed for another chartbook that was shared with me by someone else that also appears to be empty.

What do you think is happening?

Thank you,

Ok so it is getting successfully downloaded and then when you move the file to C:\SierraChart\Data , the file size will remain the same. It is not going to change when you open it in Sierra Chart through File >> Open Chartbook.

If you need remote assistance help, we can help you with that on Monday.

Hi, yes I could certainly use remote assistance help downloading and opening that shared file (or any of the shared files for that matter), please.

How do we go about setting that up and arranging a time?

Thank you,

Mike

Called customer and walked them through saving the chartbook and opening it in Sierra Chart. There were no problems with the chartbook.

Also showed the customer how to change the symbol for each of the charts since they were set to a different format.
