Hi,

My Sierra instance hangs after running for couple of hours which and results in valuable data loss, fortunately it works fine during the market hours but not if I keep it running few hours after market. Force closing it is the only way to exit, which obliviously leads into data loss as I said earlier, this affects my trading severely at the moment.

I never had this problem before but happening everyday since last couple of days.

Your prompt response in this would be greatly appreciated , please see the attached screenshots.

Thanks!

Update Sierra Chart to the current version:
Software Download: Fast Update

And run Sierra Chart in Safe Mode:
Sierra Chart - Software Login Instructions: Using Safe Mode

You must run Sierra Chart in Safe Mode even if it means you cannot use any custom studies you are using.

Thank you for your reply, I do not use any custom studies. The only way it works is a restart after deleting depth data, which I cannot afford to lose.

So you have to delete market depth data files to resolve the problem?

When you notice the issue, what is the CPU usage of the Sierra Chart process as shown in the Windows task manager? We need to know the percentage.

I notice it after hours , app is hung and nothing works until I force kill the app and then I have to delete the depth files for the it to start again. I did not check the CPU usage at the time it happens. I have a pretty powerful desktop , so other applications running don't feel a pinch so never checked the CPU usage.

Yea same here. Problem is excatly at market open with sierra still being opened from previous session.

When market starts CPU gets to 13% and sc is frozen.

After killing the sc process and restarting it hangs again with 13% cpu load at reading historical data message.

Updating to 1882 didnt solve the problem.

Deleting all depth files solved the problem.

It sounds like it is related to the recent work on the Market Depth Historical Graph study. Provide us the Chartbook you use and we will test it. Here are instructions:

Since no one here provided any help we were not able to discover and resolve this problem until someone did today:
Platform freeze -

We now have this resolved in version 1906. We had this resolved within about three hours after getting cooperation from one user. It is unfortunate it went on this long but we did ask for help. No one in this thread was willing to help us.

Same problem over here.

Happened yesterday, hang, rr, files corrupted including chartbook files.

Today, newest version, new data downloaded, chartbooks recreated - happened again, some error on data but loads and seems fine, chartbooks fine.(start of equity main hours)

note: system is more than capable to run it(ryzen5 3600) and runs below 10%. System clock hanged too second time(idk about first time), but rr in orderly manner through windows. Windows event viewer doesn't show anything of an interest. After second time happened ran SC with prime95 for 20min no problem.

-pls find chartbooks in use attached-

Your issue must be unrelated to this thread. You are posting in an old unrelated thread.

Refer to help topic 30:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

It also sounds like you have operating system level issues based upon what you are describing.

We are locking this thread.
