Is my Volume by Price Study set up correctly?

I am a member of a group that uses a Bluewater trading solutions platform. I would prefer to use Sierra charts. However, attempting to set up Sierra's Volume at Price study to match the Bluewater product has proven to be very difficult, despite a careful review of the very complete documentation. I've carefully documented the Sierra setup and CL chart for a period (2/15/2019 to 3/11/2019), and an equivalent chart from the Bluewater platform. The mismatches are highlighted in the attachment, along with my settings for the price and V@P charts. Please tell me what is flawed in my setup and what changes could possibly lead to a better match. I am assuming the Bluewater chart is correct and accurate. I sincerely appreciate your time. One obvious question is in the other program how many price ticks per volume bar? And are the time zones matching as well?

Thank you for the quick response. Both charts are set to 5 tics (minimum price increments) per bar (line 32, 3rd row) in the study setup, last page of the attachment). For example, the Bluewater chart increment is 57.39 to 57.49, with each tick being .01. I will have to answer the question regarding time zone tomorrow. The Bluewater platform is in Florida, and I am in Ohio, both ET, so I assume they are the same, but I will check. |

Set Sierra Chart to a Tick by Tick Data Configuration. Follow the instructions here to do this: Tick by Tick Data Configuration The combining of ticks is very possibly different between the programs. Thank you for the input. The instructions in the Tick by Tick Data Configuration page were carried out. The attached page shows a comparison to the Bluewater chart after the data was refreshed. The POC is 1 tick higher than the Bluewater chart, and the shape of the histogram still does not correspond to the Bluewater chart. Any further suggestions would be most welcome; The differences are significant for the techniques used for trade entry and exit with my trading rules. Bob |

Thank you for the huge amount of help provided to date. But the problem seems to be significantly worse, and the settings have remained the same in the Sierra chart. Looking at the attached comparison of the MP study, these discrepancies are significant. I have contacted the person who provided the Bluewater chart with questions as well: 1. Contract high in the period is different, 2, POC is significantly different. 3. MP shape (Peaks and valleys) do not match very well. If there are files I could send to permit you to see my setup on your system, it might be something I am missing. I thought the problem was solved when I changed the trading hours from what was the global default to the open cry settings and got a better fit. But still not corresponding. Thank you again. Bob |

We see you are now using the Sierra Chart historical data. So what we can say is that the data is very accurate and what you are seeing based on the Chart >> Chart Settings and the Volume by Price Study settings is accurate based on all of those settings and the data. It is not possible for us to comment on comparison to another program because we have no control over that or understand it.
