Hello
Computer performance
I have a PC assembly: MT - GA - EP45 - DS3R (1.0), CPU - Intel Core2 Quad Q 9300, 2,5 Ghz, RAM - Samsung 4GB DDR2-800MHZ x 4 = 16 GB, GPU - GB 9800 GT 512 MB, OS - Win 7 64-bit.
For the YM market in a chartbook, I use the VbP study for 4 charts on a 31.5 "2560x1600 monitor. When I switch between a chartbook, switching to another chartbook is very slow and jerky.
There is also a very slow switch between SierraChart and other PC software.
Also, in the Numbers bars study, the volume of trades is very slow.
Is it a small memory card memory? Need a larger (2GB) graphics card and more modern GDDR4, GDDR5?

Thank you for answer.
Josef

The most important thing is to improve the performance of Sierra Chart.

Therefore, refer to this help topic:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

Hardware is going to be secondary. You may want to get a faster CPU and a dedicated solid-state drive for Sierra Chart.

Disable this option as well:
General Settings Window: Destroy Chart Windows when Hidden (Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Application GUI)

Not sure to what extent video hardware is going to make a difference. When there is OpenGL support in Sierra Chart it will make a substantial difference. But probably not much now if any.

Hi,

I've been using the Destroy Charts When Open option and I've been having inconsistent performance when opening 2 or more instances. Could disabling this option help?

Also, any updates on when opengl may be released as I'm thinking of setting up Linux and wine this weekend and opengl may stop me from making this jump

Thanks
S

No we think that is irrelevant. But who knows.

OpenGL is longer-term. We do not think it is something to wait around for and there are certainly going to be issues with it at first. We would not expect it to be stable until quite some time.

It is recommended to use a solid-state drive and in particular a NVME storage drive. For further details, refer to NVMe SSDs: Everything you need to know about this insanely fast storage.

Say we buy a computer and it only has one M2 port that is already dedicated to the computer's hard drive, would you recommend us getting an adapter to fit another NVME storage drive to run Sierra Chart?

Rereading post #1, another item to do is to use sub instances:
Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance
