Hi - I thought to try the SC real time data feed (USD 5). I can't get this going (credit of USD 15 has been payed). This is the Sierra11 attachment. Please notice that I am in general trial to begin with (5 days left of that). In second attempt I first chose a service (Sierra11a). This gives a clue about something else amiss (Sierra11b). This latter shows a message which I understand but with the notice that a. this data is known (IB/IG) and b. I can't find any additional questions in the SC forms. If this should not be on the support board then I apologize. Thank you, Peter |

For what exchanges did you want real-time data for?
The answer is not even easy, as I am actually responding you your guys' hammering on IB issues. So, when going the SC way, I thought to comply as best as possible to what SC supports best and see what can be done with the SC feed(s) instead of what I currently use from mostly IB. Let's say that what I see from using the IB feed through SC is not the very best responsive (so to speak) and the least I want to check is whether this is better with the SC feeds. I am not saying that I wouldn't be able to work with SC as how I see it now, so I just wonder. What I'm using with IB is NYSE, NASDAQ (normal shares) and Forex, and the automated trading I intend is about Forex only. OffTopic (sort of) : Any advice you can give me I'll trust and linking to pages about this will undoubtedly be helpful (I read a million so far but I guess I am still too uninformed about this all). So please, don't hesitate to say that the SC feeds are better all over, or, what it may require extra in the SC environment when I wouldn't have an IB feed any more at all. Regarding this, please notice that over there I am using symbols at random (say 100 different the last year and again 50 different prior to that). If it were about the number of symbols at the same time, ... maybe I ever touched 40. And, being at the trial license I obviously have now idea how this works out (is a license for 100 about 100 at the same time but I can change freely, daily ?). What I'm also completely missing atm is how your real time data is related to CME only with the notice that I don't intend to do Futures. So possibly I am trying something (the real time data feed) which is useless for me all together. But I am happy to try everything, especially if you advise it. Thanks a lot. |

Allow me to add one other thing : What I regard the most important is backtesting with data which is as accurate to reality as possible, at the tick level. So it is the combination of what I'd use during automated trading and how that resembles my backtesting for that. This seems logical as h*ll but seems not really what everybody regard as an issue for failing strategies (well, I do). May it help, I really have no intention to work through everything in the upcoming 5 days, so I regard one month extra subscription in order, at least. Maybe two or three or whatever it takes to decide. So if it is easier for you I'll just transfer worth for the next month (Level 5, whatever exchange fees, which is hard for me to see through at this moment, using those exchanges through IB and IG and thus are paid for already ?). |

OK, I suppose my answers were too complicated or inordinate or not applicable or ... ;-) But if so, I just need to learn more. Anyway, nothing happened yet. OK, one thing did : my credit has disappeared. I understand this takes time and you may not have that ... |

What I'm using with IB is NYSE, NASDAQ (normal shares) and Forex, and the automated trading I intend is about Forex only. In this case you will want to use the US Equities exchange with the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed. Refer to the Exchanges section on this page:Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed But just make sure you use the correct symbols because some of them need to be specially formatted as explained here: Interactive Brokers Symbols: More Detailed Stock Symbol Format and Denali Exchange Data Feed In the case of cash Forex data, refer to: Interactive Brokers Trading Service: Using Sierra Chart Historical and Real-time Forex Data and Trade through Interactive Brokers Account What I'm also completely missing atm is how your real time data is related to CME only with the notice that I don't intend to do Futures. There was never any payment to your Sierra Chart account because there is no transaction for that on your account. Do you have an email receipt for the credit that you think you added? If not, the payment never went through. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. Just in case it matters : I notice that the reminders for the trial account end up at an other email address than where the (PayPal) payment was done from. This address starts with test@. I don't even know where I filled that, but not in any formal form (but maybe to be able to download SC - I don't remember). Also, the formal address is again an other (peter@) than where the payment came from (which you saw in the earlier attachment). So for everything which is formal, I use the same address everywhere (knowing that this could be important). You can also see this in the attachments from a few days ago, in this thread. Sorry to bother you so much ... |

OffTopic (skip if you like) : And to make things extra odd, since I posted a "User Discussion" new thread, I noticed that this happened under the account 502006, which now turns into the display (nick) name, while that was PeterSt (see in this thread). I logged out and in to see whether that helps, and now post this post ... Edit : So logging out and in helped. I will make a separate thread of this. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2019-01-14 09:22:07

In regards to post #7 and #8, you have two different Sierra Chart accounts and you made a payment on your other Sierra Chart account compared to the account you are currently looking at. Notice the description on the PayPal receipt. It has your Sierra Chart username there. We think your other postings are related to this same issue. You should be using the Sierra Chart account that has the 15 USD credit. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. The pieces of this puzzle come together ... So Yes, I was just ahead of you (or at least without reading your last post) with indicating some "danger", in that other thread about the Account ID. And this is just what happened already ... Please be aware that I don't know anything about two accounts. But they now appear to be more real than just nick name and "internal ID". Anyway, yes, 30 minutes or so ago I saw the "green dot" re-appear. Which of course was when I logged out and in again. And to be dead-sure about matters : when I logged out, the account shown in mentioned "yellow box" was the very same as on the paypal payment. So there most certainly did not show any 502006. And I just logged out and in. Nothing more. And I also did not log out today or yesterday. And I posted in other threads as well, and there the PeterSt (nick) shows. So it really should be that User Discussion thing. All right. I guess this is back to square one for obtaining the SC feed. Well, not really, because now I can't find the SC data feed (trial) purchase any more. Well, I must look harder then ... Anyway, what I could not do before and which you offered to do for me. |
