Chart Freezing Up

Every time i tried to add a new symbol like amzn-stk-smart the chart all froze and i have to restart Sierra Chart. Please help.

This does not really make sense to experience something like this with something like just opening a chart. We really would have to do a remote assistance session with you to see what is happening. Actually though we think we know what is happening. It might be caused by the Volume by Price study. Do you know if the Volume by Price study is on that chart or is automatically applied to a new chart?

We would first want you to update to the current version of Sierra Chart following the instructions here:

I upgraded to the latest version but still not working. It seems to pick and choose which symbols work. AAPL and MU are fine but AMZN and NVDA are not working. I do have Volume by Price on one of the charts. The whole program froze NOT just one chart. To do a remote assistance, do i have to pay for your time? Thanks for your prompt reply.

It is the Volume by Price study which is the problem. This is thoroughly explained here:

Do not change the symbol of an existing chart to a symbol which has higher values, when the Volume by Price study is on that chart, until after you increase the Volume at Price Multiplier.

I still have the same issue after increasing the "Volume at Price Multiplier". I am not sure if i doing it correctly. Now it's getting worst and i cant even switch from ES to NQ future without the whole program locked up and having to restart the program. Please help.

We do not know the configuration of that chart. We recommend just closing that chart and starting a new one and load a minimum amount of data in it. And with whatever you are doing, if there is that much processing involved, we recommend not changing the symbol of a chart and just using a separate chart. But not sure why this would really matter because the volume at price data is loaded in the background.

I am not sure if the volume at price is the problem. That is what you told me might be the problem. I didnt have a problem before so not sure why now. I cant delete the chart because its what I primarily trade with. Is it memory problem? Do i need to clear the cache or something? This is also happened after i signed up for CME data service through Sierra. I no longer have CME and receiving data feed from Interactive Broker. Could it be data configurations?

When I have an issue or want to test something out I will duplicate the chart - then delete what is or might be the problem and see what happens. That way the original chart is left intact in case I mess something up. Also for any study you can click on the settings and at the bottom there is a box to check that will says save these settings as default. Then when you remove the study you can add it back with the exact same settings. Again do this with the duplicate chart in case you make an error. Rename it too so there is no confusion.

It's not a chart that freezing up its the entire program when iam switching from symbol to symbol. Do you want the chart with the VBP?

Oh and i tried your recommendation with the process of elimination and hide the VBP studies or even closed out that chart entirely it still froze up.
