Hi, Since I upgraded to version 1785 yesterday Sierra Chart is unusable. It fails to respond, it crashes (32 bit version) or it seems to be constantly trying to catch up with data downloads (free FXCM data feed).

It doesn't seem to be an internet problem since all my other applications are responding fine.
The Performance monitor on my PC shows that it has lots of spare capacity in all categories.

May I send you the Message log?

When you say "it crashes", what exactly do you mean specifically? Do you notice an abnormal shutdown of Sierra Chart.

I have only experienced crashes when running the 32 bit version, the 64nit has not crashed yet, but is just unresponsive due to the constant downloading of data.

By crash I mean that is running and perhaps showing a single chart out of the 8 that show in the window on my initial ChartBook, then the next thing I know it is not running anymore.

I was still getting the problem over the weekend, so this morning I asked a friend which version of Sierra he was using and loaded that one (1729) which seems to have cured the problem.
I hope that there aren't too many changes between 1729 and 1785 so you can isolate where the problem is.

First thing we want to do is to run Sierra Chart in Safe Mode:
Sierra Chart - Software Login Instructions: Using Safe Mode

See if that helps. If there still is a problem we need to get the Chartbook you are opening which is having this issue. Follow the instructions here to provide that:

Running in Safe mode I managed to see an error message about a circular reference - chart A had overlay of chart B and chart B had overlay of chart A.

I removed that and it then came up in normal mode and eventually settled down, though I am still dismayed at the time and aborted downloads ti takes before it eventually settles down with version 1785 - it used to be so much faster with earlier versions.
And indeed with version 1729 it still had the capacity to settle down and run normally even though it had that circular reference!

Do you recommend that I will have to split my chartbooks up between several instances?

I only have the FXCM SpotFX and CFDs data feed, so I am puzzled why I am getting messages about Market Depth:

Surely Market Depth information is not supported by my Data Feed !

It sounds like there is a problem where Sierra Chart is freezing due to references between charts due to excessive calculations. Refer to this section here about this:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.9 References to Other Charts / Continuous Full Recalculation of Charts

Disregard this it is not relevant:
SC DTC Data with Market Depth

We are not aware of any differences between versions of why the behavior would be different but we don't think that would be relevant because the underlying issue needs to get resolved on your side with the references between charts and study efficiency.
