SC installer freezing and can't update

Hello,

The installer is freezing and not updating to nee version. please advice what I can do. I have an indicator that is working now only on latest version

If the installer is actually freezing and inoperable at some point, this would be the result of the Windows operating system itself not returning from a function call.

The first thing we recommend you do is restart the computer, and temporarily disable any security software you are running and try updating again. If there still is a problem provide the installer log by following these instructions here:

I did disable the window defender and security software. here is the file as it is still not working

We have looked into this problem some more and we cannot see how this is anything but an operating system level problem. You did say in the call that you did have a problem with a particular Windows update.

We have not had any other user encounter a problem like this. And this installer is extensively used.

We have an idea of where the problem is occurring and we have added an additional check to ensure that the freezing condition does not go on for an extended time but this is not really a proper solution. There is something fundamentally going wrong at the operating system level.

ok, thanks. I believe the OS problem was solved but , of course, we would never know. I will see the how the next update works and I am fine to update through the zip file if this continue to happen. thanks again for the call and help yesterday

The new updated installer has now been released. Try updating again with Help >> Download Current Version and see if you encounter the issue. We would like to know. If you do, you can just terminate the installer and there is no harm done.

So this test is harmless. It is fine to wait until after the market close.

That is very interesting. That does really reveal quite a serious low-level fault at the operating system level with something so basic as files.

I'm running into this problem (or similar) now trying to update SC version 1713 to the current release through the appropriate Help menu function within SC. After a prompt pops up asking me to close Sierra, nothing else happens.

This thread is about a different subject and we are locking it now.

And also this problem described in the first post, and the prior issue, months ago, with the installer not running in some cases, are both Microsoft operating system problems.
