if i manually set the size and position of a window in SC and close the chartbook and reopen it the size/position is remembered. if i set the size and position using any of the win10 windows snapping functions then i close/open the chartbook, none of those size/positions are remembered.

We cannot help with this.

This is an issue that Microsoft needs to resolve.

It is clear it is not something we cannot help with. This is a Windows issue and we know that with 100% certainty. Your comparison to other programs is not relevant here and we cannot speak to that.

When Sierra Chart exits, all window sizes and positions are saved. And the chart sizes and positions are saved so long as you have saved your Chartbooks.

This discussion is going to go nowhere if you are going to continue to believe the problem is on our side.

"Your comparison to other programs is not relevant here and we cannot speak to that." it's not just 'other' programs. it's all programs EXCEPT for SC that function properly in this regard.

"This is a Windows issue and we know that with 100% certainty." thats fine. i searched the forum, is there a place where this has been discussed before so i can understand better?

One place this is explained is here:
Window Size and Position Not Restored When Opening Chartbook

But that particular problem is different but somewhat related.

We do remember this issue being brought up by another user, about a year ago, and they did describe a solution to it. But we do not remember what that was. Maybe you can find that thread.

You also need to realize, that the behavior you see probably is intended by Microsoft. So what you think is a problem is a deliberate design decision by Microsoft where with the method you are manipulating the window, its internal "window placement structure" which we use to save and restore the window, is not updated.

it's not just 'other' programs. it's all programs EXCEPT for SC that function properly in this regard.
OK tell this to Microsoft so they can fix their problem. We understand why this occurs and it is a Microsoft issue.
