Hi, WTF, just opened my charts and certain studies are missing?
When I go to Study Settings it shows (unknown name) (ID1), (unknown name) (ID2) etc.
Missing studies are 'volume at price threshold alert', 'cumulative delta bars', 'Volume Weighted Average Price' and 'Volume'
What is going on?

Go to this folder on your system:
C:\SierraChart\

Do you see the SierraChartStudies.dll file?

If not, it could be that security software on your system might have deleted it.

If so, you just need to install/update Sierra Chart through Help >> Download Current Version.

I cannot see that file but why would just a few studies disappear and others remain?
I have been using this software for 4-5 months and have not had any problems before so why would my security software suddenly decide to delete anything?

To solve this, update Sierra Chart through Help >> Download Current Version.

so why would my security software suddenly decide to delete anything?
Based on your description, it sounds like your security software indeed did delete that file. You need to contact them to find out why that happened. This the third report we have today of this. What security software are you running?

I use F-Secure, but why would only a few studies be removed? surely all studies would be missing if that file was removed.

Updating Sierra Chart does not in any way cause settings or other configurations like Chartbooks to be lost.

The studies that are contained in the DLL file would be missing. The other studies would still be listed.

I am in a similar situation. Virus when downloading files.
Advice for the future: make a copy of the directory C:\SierraChart\Data\

This problem is caused by your antivirus software deleting the SierraChartStudies.dll file. You need to disable your antivirus/security software.

For more information, refer to:
Software Download: Antivirus/Anti-malware Software Flagging Sierra Chart Installer or other Files as Unsafe/Infected

Once you do that, then update Sierra Chart with Help >> Download Prerelease. Instructions:

My anti-virus software allowed me to restore the file back to its original location, and everything is back to normal. I have sent a sample of the the file to them and told them what it is, so they should not recognise it as a threat in future

How do I restore my file back to its original location? All of my study collections are gone, the major studies I use are gone, and my DOM settings are gone.

The problem is you have installed Sierra Chart into the wrong folder.

This is what we see:
C:\SierraChart\
C:\Users\[username]\Desktop\
C:\Users\ [username]\Downloads\SierraChart1717\

The correct folder is:
C:\SierraChart\

In your email you also said this:
SierraChartStudies.dll is missing is what the message log says.

Among the three folders listed above, which one is the one that you were using previously?

We can help you with remote assistance with this.

I too am missing the studies and studies64 files.
I disabled my Bitdefender but it seems the installation of SC want to read the missing file.
Any way to get the original one?

UPDATE: I recovered the files from my antivirus for the main instance and update/re-install successful.
But that didn't fix or re-create the files for the instance C:\SierraChart\SierraChartInstance_2
I also can't copy the main instant's file into the second instance for some reason.
Not a permission problem it seems as I can copy any file of my PC into the C:\SierraChart\SierraChartInstance_2 folder,
and I can copy that SierraChartStudies_64.dll TO any place of my PC BUT into C:\SierraChart\SierraChartInstance_2.

Hope you have an idea how to proceed.
Maybe there is a way to properly remove the second instance and then recreate it?
Or is there a "verify" function that fetches missing files?
Thank you in advance!

There is only a SierraChartStudies_64.dll file provided. Not the non-64-bit one.

Exit from any sub instance of Sierra Chart which is running.

Rename this folder:
C:\SierraChart\SierraChartInstance_2
to:
C:\SierraChart\SierraChartInstance_2_Backup

And then start the sub instance again. Let us know you can access the studies and then the next step is to copy any needed Chartbooks from that backup folder into the new folder.

Strange, I have both, the 64 and non-64.
But I only ever start the 64bit anyway.

Everything is working again! Thank you so much!
You guys are really fast with your support and I know you have to deal with a lot of attitude!
Much appreciated! Thank you!

You may have the non-64-bit Sierra Chart Studies file from older versions. It is no longer used.
