About the disconnects I was getting with Sierra and Rithmic

About two weeks ago, I sent you a support request due to getting Sierra disconnects using a rithmic feed. The Sierra message log would tell me that the heartbeat had been quiet for more than 40.900 or so seconds.

I am using a 50 meg cable connection via Comcast's router. I have two separate occasions of sierra running. One on one puter and one on another. Each occasion being fed with rithmic. All other software on each puter was operating correctly.

I would not get but 1 or 2 disconnects each day but that is way too much for my simple mind and the distractions that it was causing to my trading.

I didn't pull any data from the Rithmic platform itself to start with. I only had the working order screen up. However, to fix the disconnects in Sierra, I had to add just one symbol to my Rithmic quote board that was being charted on Sierra from each computer. I just picked the NG natural gas future from one and the ZS soybeans from another. As soon, as I did this change, my disconnects stopped. All is ok now. It has been three days and not a single disconnect.

I hope this will help someone else also, so I took the time to write this.

Who do I bill for my software testing services? :-)

I think Sierra Charts with a Rithmic feed is the best.

You really should let Rithmic know about this.

I thought i would also tell Sierra; but, you find nothing useful in knowing that your heartbeat was stopping for 40.900 or so seconds and then SC disconnected and reconnected?

No, because this is fully managed by the Rithmic API software. None of this is within our control.

The heartbeat you refer to is a Rithmic heartbeat and is in the Rithmic software. Not Sierra Chart.
