Hi,
I used to use Sierra Charts some time ago and wish to start doing so again. I used the old shortcut on my desktop and it said I needed to update the software so I did that. It seemed to update but when I click on the new desktop shortcut it created it says the file has been changed and the shortcut no longer works. This is the new shortcut as I have deleted the old one. I have since got the message that the sierrachart.exe file is infected by TrojanGeneric20319864 and has been removed by my BitDefender Antivirus program !
Please advise.

I have since got the message that the sierrachart.exe file is infected by TrojanGeneric20319864 and has been removed by my BitDefender Antivirus program !
This is the problem.

Notice this is a generic detection. It is a false positive. Refer to:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SoftwareDownload.php#AntivirusSoftwareFlaggingInstaller

You will need to reinstall Sierra Chart after disabling your antivirus software.

I have done the above with the same results. I have searched thru the SierraCharts folder to find the file SierraChart.exe and found it in the subfolder DownloadedInstallationFiles so I made a shortcut file from it. When I go to move the shortcut file to the desktop it won't let me do it. It says needs adminitator permission. Which folder should the .exe file be in to allow a shortcut to start the program? I have tried moving a copy of the .exe file to the main Sierra Chart folder. It then allows me to create a shortcut and move that to desktop. The shortcut then lets me log in but I don't think the program is working correctly !

You should not be running Sierra Chart from within the C:\SierraChart\DownloadedInstallationFiles\ folder.

You would want to run it from C:\SierraChart\

but I don't think the program is working correctly !

What is not working correctly?

The SierraChart.exe file is only in the SierraChart\DownloadInstallationFiles folder. I have had to copy it to the SierraChart folder myself and make a shortcut to it there. It then seems to start up ok but says Socket closed by remote site. Graceful close received error. Shutdown complete. Closing socket now.
No charts appear.

Based on the Log you are able to connect to the Feed, and should be able to get real-time Forex data. You can open charts by selecting File >> Find Symbol:
